#1 Post by simko »

ok guys, i have questions:

first a background

almost all the airguns i own are either springer, or multi pump

one is c02

i usually dont like the co2 gun (usses 12g co2 cans) because the pressure is always decreasing and its LOUD

also, i dont have a big co2 can because theres really nowehere locally that will refill it closeby.

im wondering

is theer a gun mechanism that i can refill with a pump, or with my compressor?

i have an air compressor at home with a water remover...... can i use that to pump up a big air tank, then put the air from the tank into a gun like that?

aaron_simkovich,

The compress airgun (PCP gun) uses compress air upto 3000 psi, the home compressor you have at home, I think usually max out at 125 -145 psi. So if your air compressor can reach 3000 psi so yes you can put it into scuba tank and carry it around to refill the gun.
I have an industrial 5hp 240v air compressor at home too but max out at 135 psi because it's only use for air powertools but not enough to use for pcp gun. It's better to use the hand pump because it's cheaper than getting the proper compressor for the pcp gun, the cheapest one I think it's around 1300 bucks USD. There is another solution, you can build one compressor with a honda engine to pump 3000 psi with hydraulic pump attach to it but to finish perhaps it will cost about 900 to 1000 bucks.
The good thing about CO2 is less dangerous because only operate at 853 psi (@72 F) and on 9 oz, you get 400 to 600 shots depending how's the gun setup.

It would be my future project to build 3000 psi compressor, unless would make more sense to buy one ..... got to R&D on this.

I have a Carbon Fiber tank that I take to the scuba shop to get filled it is filled to 4500 PSI which will give me quiet a few fills in my Airguns as the airguns take 3000 PSI as mentioned by Sniper. This has worked out well, but be careful as the air that goes into these PCP's has to be VERY clean and dry otherwise you will invalidate your warrentee on the gun, at least in my Rapids it will. For a long time Theoben had said if you use a hand pump on the guns when filling they will not warrent the gun, but I believe that they have backed off of that. mosture will cause problems with the gun in many ways.

I think I posted a picture of my Carbon Fiber tank on here, but if you would like me to post it again I will be happy to.

Or the cheaper one from Xisico is ok too. Nothing wrong with the springer I've been using them since I was about 7 but with 22xx or QB, I could reload much faster with alot less energy. The next gun HW100 will reload even faster .... more fun.

The only problem here to get a refill with scuba tank, I heard you got to be a member of some scuba diver club but I might be wrong. There is a refill station for paintball tank that use compress air at Badlands.

KILLER-B, please post that Carbon Fiber tank, it must be very light I would think ? what's the volume capacity ?.

VERY LIGHT !!!!

I believe it is a 80 CF and to get a SCUBA TANK filled YES you do have to have a scuba license but for the CF tanks you don't as they can not be used for diving. Here is the picture of the CF Tank. Let me know if you want a differant angle.

I guess that's not bad afterall, considering that 70 cu.in. cost about $ 200+ US.

You can also get them in a 106 CF version but then they are getting bigger and less easy to carry.

As in everything, it just depends on the application
