My HW50S shots equally well with JSB 4.51@4.52's,and I'm running out of both. Can't decide on with batch to get 4.51vs4.52's,because it doesn't really matter anyway :?

Someone added a third option "buy both sizes".I don't know....having two different sizes of the same pellet for one gun :? that just seems a little extreme, don't you think

No but seriously I'll be buying a sleeve this time, and I don't see the point in buying two when I only need one.

My HW40 likes the 4.52mm.
My HW30S liked the 4.52mm.
I found the 4.50mm to be a sloppy fit in my airguns.
Illingworth Imports now has 4.51, 4.52, and 4.53mm.

Choose the largest one you can load without damaging the skirt.
Damaged skirt can kill the precision.
In springers tihgter pellet takes off at higher air pressure, resulting in higher muzzle energy.

Hey Ramjet,

Once I'm out of 4.51's I'll be done with them. I havn't noticed any difference in accuracy from the two sizes, but the 4.52's seem to make the same average velocity as the 4.51's and do it a bit more consistently. Same goes for .22 cal, eventually I will be doing 4.52 and 5.52 in Exacts and 4.50 in Schaks. It makes things nice and easy, grab and go!

I would think manufacturing tolerances would be deliberately kept on the highside. For example, 4.51 +- 0.002 = 4.508 to 4.512, and 4.52 +- 0.002 would = 4.518 to 4.522. Of the two minimals, 4.518 would seat in a new AND slightly worn rifle bore far better than 4.508.

The highside of 4.512 & 4.522 would seat well and likely without significant deformation of pellet nose or skirt, so in that case either would be ok. BUT..... it's the MINOR range of tolerances that would most likely hurt you more.... for these reasons I'd go with 4.52 'twere it me.

Just my thoughts without knowing what the actual tolerances of their production really are..... -LarryS

I am with Mulby here. Keep it simple, stick with one type that works.
Most my guns use JSB Exacts 4.52, 5.52 and SCHaK 4.50 too. Some guns need to be re-zeroed with different pellet types.
