#1 Post by On/Scene Tactical »

Hey Guys...

My new Hawke AirMax scope arived from Illingworth arrived, as well as a sunshade and Hawke 1 piece high mount.

Just Awesome...

Haven't installed it yet, the Mrs. has me cleaning the house :( However I'm very excited, and the quality of scope, mount and shade is very high..

I'll let you know how it shoots once I get it on and Zero'd,,hopefully later tonight..
Looks as though I'll be ringing the new year in with an after midnight shoot.. :)

I have the Hawke airmax 4-12 mildot on my HW97. Its an excellent scope and stands up to the rigours of being onboard a springer with no drift. It is always on when I pick it up. Whcih model did you get?
Airgunning is my hobby... and it is cheaper than
maintaining an outside relationship with another woman.

I have the same scope on my Condor and love it. Scott is an excellent guy to deal with too.

Hey Guys....

Thanks,, yaa it's a fine scope..

After screwing around with it for a couple of hours,, my brother in law and I figured out I had the base on backwards,,so we remounted it, and now it's shooting well..

I have it nearly zer'd.. A couple more clicks,,and it should be perfect..

I got the 6X18X44AO

One thing that I'm finding strange though is that focused at 25 yards the AO scale reads about 17-18 yards...Strange... Can't quite figure that out...

If I set the AO at 25 yard mark, at full power it's blurry, cranked back to 17 yards,, it focuses in nicely...

Anyone know what that might be ??

I would absolutely recommend this scope to Anyone serious into airgunning..

The Hawke Scope base is also a Very finely made piece of gear,, from the anti recoil screw, to the anti slip pads inside the rings..
Just Excellent.. I couldn't be happier, all my other baes could get thrown in the trash...

Congrats on the nice scope!

Try adjusting the eye piece and refocus the crosshair.
You eye can inadvertently compensate for focus a bit.
Also AO markings are not alway accurate.

Hey ETA...

Yaaa I've tried that..Doesn't make any significant difference on focus...
I can screw it out 1/4" and it still looks as clear screwed all the way in..

Also it doesn't seem to have a locking ring..
I'm pretty sure it has the dat eyeball focus,, but I can't figure it out...

Going to email Illingworth and see what they have to say...

Thanks

Not that I'm totaly positve on this, but try the AO an 10x and it might be more accurate. Also...do you have 20/20 vision?

I supposed that you already set the front ring to 25 yards, right.
as Condor Al was saying, it's a good idea to set it at about 10x
Finally adjust the focus ring.

I hope you got it all work out.

Hey Guys...

I don't have 20/20, however tried it with my glasses,,same thing...

Ok,,went and tried that,, set the AO @ 25, and adjusted the eye focus..That helped somewhat, however the final focus turned out to be just before the 25 yard mark, with the eye focus maxed out...

I cannot find a locking ring on this at all,,at least not what I'm use to...
There is No locking ring between the focus ring and the scope body...

Am I mising something ??

The eye focus ring is pretty tight,,and don't think it will move,,but I would rather have a locking ring in place...
