What would YOU have done???

#1 Post by KILLER-B »

A few weeks ago I was on another Forum in the UK, and a airgunner was saying how he was called by a Framer to take care of some Pigeons at his farm. The airgunner got there and met with the Farmer and told him that he would only shoot a pigeon if he was sure he could get a head shot only, he would not shoot it anywhere else. Now the Farmer said I don't care where you shoot the Pigeons, just shoot them and the airgunner refused so the Farmer said well then I don't want you shooting at my property, and asked him to leave. So the airgiunner lost what could have been a fun place to shoot on principal.

So the question is in your opinion did the airgunner do the right thing? or what would you have done?

The Airgunner made the right decision.
One shot kill. Anything else would have been killing
for the sake of killing.
Same as deer hunting. You shoot for a clean kill, not to wound
and cause suffering.

Just my opinion. Nothing personal.

If I was the airgunner, I would just say: yes no problem, then make my own decision what the best way to kill the pigeons. If it's a headshot , then the headshot it is ...... the damn farmer doesn't need to know or to be explained for. The job is done and everybody is happy ....

Wolf,

Thanks for responding, But the airgunner lost a area to shoot, the Farmer did not ask the airgunner where he planned on shooting the Pigeons. I would have thought that a better course would have been to just say OK I will take care of the Pigeon problem, and then just take Head shots if that's what he wants to do. This I would think would be a win win on both sides.

Sniper,

Looks like we think alike we were both cross posting with the same Idea at the same time.

Both of you are right.
What the farmer didn't know would not hurt him.
I am just saying the airgunner made a decision based on what
he believed was right, not on what the farmer requested.
Just a matter of principal. If one farmer had the problem
so would others. Sometimes you have to lose to win.
It all depends on your morals what you believe in.

It reminds me of the age old discussion on which is better when Squirrel hunting a Heart/Lung shot or a Head Shot which is more humane.

I would have shot those pigeons in the buttock, just to satisfy both partys.
