Stock replacement

#1 Post by Inquisitor »

I know it's a noob gun, but I have a Crosman pump-up Backpacker, and I was wondering if anyone else has one? If so, what kind of stuff would you recommend if I wanted to customize it (mine is stock right now)? I hate the iron sights, and was thinking about a red dot sight. Also, I need a better stock... has anyone seen or heard of an alternative removable stock, other than the one that comes with it? Thanks.

You can fab up a wooden stock on your own, or order one from RBgrips.

Inquisitor.....start with the #2240SBPK kit from Crosman Canada.......that's gotta be your first mod...costs around 36.00 dollars before shipping and tax....from there... you can add Optics to the rail of your new breech......

If you don't want that crosman stock I'll take it. But, if you drill a small hole through the center of the bullseye on each side of the grip you can use the screws for the grip panels to hold the stock much more securely. A set screw through the bottom of the grip will also stabilize the stock so that it no longer wobbles.

That was my first 2289 mod.

WHAT?!!? It's not a diana, or an anshutz, but 2289s are definetly not a noob gun. Don't feel bad about it.

Hey, don't hate. It releases negative energy, which is bad for everyone.

Hmmm... perhaps. A Daisy Red Ryder is a noob gun for sure. But to me the Backpacker feels... like a toy. All that plastic you know. I like that wooden stock Marmot. Thanks all for the insights.

Noob: Lets see....My '89 has full mods, RJ breech, re-worked trigger, 4X32 "bug buster", and a ummmm....lets call it a "brake". Throws CP's out at 800+ FPS and makes one hole out of 5 shots at 20 yards. Weighs about 4 lbs and comes apart to go into an itty bitty (read: discreet) case.

Definitely not a newbie gun, but one that is a hoot to build up.

My .02
