#1 Post by bobv »

Here is my B4-2A I got a couple of days ago and seeing that the wood was not perfect ( I knew it was that way when I bought it)) so I removed some hardware and repainted it

Hi Bob,

Any idea if the B4-2A has a leather piston seal or synthetic?

Are you planning any modifications? Maybe a barrel chop to create a slick carbine. Maybe a lubricant tune for smoothness. Maybe a muzzle break.

Thanks,
Todd

I don't know what kind of seal it has I haven't taking it apart yet . I might try to smooth it up a bit ...the trigger sure could use some work to lighter it up ...a lot !!! I might have an other muzzle break made like the one on my QB...if I can get a hold of my machinist friend

Hi Bobv and Todd ,
The B4 2A has a synthetic piston seal ( the A variant is the newer one with the synthetic seal ) ..it also comes with a spare cup adapter to affix a synthetic seal on .The older one is the B4 2 , comes with a leather seal .The trigger is a direct latch on the skirt of the piston
like the CZ 620 the crosman quest ect , and will smoothen out with use , and will Improve a lot after some polishing and the application of molly .

Regards ,
Frank

I didn't like the finish on my B4-2A either but I opted for a natrual wood look. tung oil finish.

Nice... I would have done mine natural also but I had some dark filler patches to deal with and I took out the swivel plates on the other side and patched those holes also ...so I would have ended up with a 3 color stock that's why I went black!!! Of course I knew about the diffects before I bought the rifle so it's no big deal, really

Mine has lost of defects too. Different colored wood, dark patches hairline cracks. You can't see it on the pic but they are visible when looked at closely. I wanted a natural wood finish so I went with it anyway but I don't think the cheap B4 stocks are really all that good quality wood and your black finish looks really good.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the reply. The B4-2A might be a fun project rifle, but I'm hoping someone starts selling springs, seals, and trigger parts (product support). The chopped carbine idea looks slick.

Thanks,
Todd
