Ok, fess up, M2K4/HW40 owners

I picked up the last Marksman 2004 from my local Cambodian Tire. I really like this thing. Its quiet enough that I can shoot it in the basement and my wife doesn't come running down the stairs and bust me playing with my new toy.
Since it's diet requires nothing but lead and lubricant it's dirt cheap to shoot.
I'm getting dime sized groups (3-5 shots) with open sites at 6m. Quarter sized groups after my third cup of coffee :P. Since my Brass Eagle red dot completely obscures the target at 5m my groupings are no better (although I did see a nice looking red dot at Wally World for $46 and change today).

Anyway, after 250 or so shots it started to leak. So I loosened the set screw on the end of the piston, drifted out the pin and pulled the piston out. Cleaned the o-ring, piston and chamber with a paper towel, put 3 drops of Crosman Pellgunoil on the o-ring and slapped it back together.
Works like a charm.

If that's all this thing requires for maintenance then colour me impressed.

Does anybody else have any experience with these things? Is there anything else I should look out for (aside from the smaller pins working their way out but, I have a fix for that).

I had one, it now resides at the bottom of the Calgary municiple landfill where it belongs. :P

Still, before it died completely it was a fun basement shooter. I hope yours lasts longer than mine did.

Mine has lasted thousands of shots. All that was needed was glue on the pins and a red dot, it has never leaked or malfunctioned in the 13 months I've had it. By the way, the red dot at Cantire has a weaver mount so it won't fit the Marky or much else in the airgun world, without an adapter of course. Good luck and happy shooting,

I enjoy the original German version, called the Weihrauch HW40. There was no Chinese M-2004 back when I bought. After almost 7 years I still have a blast with the accurate HW40 pistol. Full review at

Here is a posting from a short time ago regarding the M-2004.
