Agreeing with airgunfun, I found no significant difference in weight between Lobo's, H&N Graphites, H&N Copper Clads, and Crossman Copperhead Hunting pellets.

My measures were a group of 10 weighed with a diet scale. -LarryS

Link-dc, I think they are 7.9 grain, but I may be wrong.... Hunting? I wouldn't use them for hunting, use either WCs or HPs, and go for head shots, your prey will die quickley and fairly painlessly. Pointed pellets are okay too, but seriously, for hunting, round point would be my last choice. But yes, just by thinking about it, I would say round points would go the farthest. Guys??

Hey, don't hate. It releases negative energy, which is bad for everyone.

What Pellet Should I Use
Flat-nosed wadcutters punch perfect holes in paper target to aid in scoring, and are required in competition. The slight effects of higher air resistance on accuracy due to the flat head are unmeasurable at 10 meters, but do become noticeable at 35 meters and beyond.
Medium weight roundnose pellets offer the best combination of weight and flat trajectory for medium powered hunting rifles (12-15 ft.lbs.). The closer you can normally get to your prey, the heavier the pellet you should use because heavy pellets will penetrate much deeper and be less susceptible to wind deflection. With the most powerful air rifles consider only heavyweight pellets.

I think domed pellets are the best all around ammo for airguns, hands down. They hold there energy longer than wadcutters, hollow points or pointed shapes, which is important since you really want max energy at the target. And they will likely be more accurate than either flathead or pointed pellets, especially at longer ranges like Rene mentioned.
If an airgun by chance prefers a HP, WC, or pointed pellet, and by prefer I mean shoots most accurately at hunting ranges, by all means shoot them. But, in my experience a good quality dome will surpass all others past 35yds, no matter the power level.

hollow points and pointed pellets work best for me. Wadcutters are best used one light game like rabbits and blackbirds. Squirrels, Raccoons, and Skunks require a sharper projectile due to tougher skin. Not to say I haven't killed a squirrel with a wadcutter but it's just not the best pellet.

There is value in what Mulby says for me.

He is after all, an 80 meter long distance shooter.... I will have to buy those round head pellets in .22 caliber as soon as I know exactly what brand and what the formal title of those pellets are. I am confused by words like exacts. Not knowing caliber or shape variations.

BTW -I have prepared a dozen Rhino's for tomorrow. It's supposed to be a day of fair weather. If round is good.... 2 rounds might be better....
(IF) they reach the 90 foot target. :D -LarryS

In hunting you want to transfer as much energy as you can to your prey. With a powerful gun many times points will go straight through your prey and If nothing vital is hit much fo the energy is retained by the pellet, this is over penetration.

Wadcutters transfer enrgy well at close ranges, but at longer distances they lose much of their energy because of poor aerodynamic qualities.

Domes carry their energy best to long distances and also transfer their energy well to the prey.
Airgunning is my hobby... and it is cheaper than
maintaining an outside relationship with another woman.
