Premiers
Hi Aaron,
Some pellets can be very messy. I had some .22 Copperhead WCs that were covered in black gunk. Also, Crosman Premiers can sometimes be a bit messy. I clean these pellets with a metal screen strainer, dishsoap, and lots of hot water. After I wash and rinse them, I will spread the pellets on an old towel and pat them dry. Then I put them on a dry towel. Then I use a hot hairdryer to dry them more. Move pellets around when drying to get all the moisture out. I use a couple of towels to keep the pellets on a dry surface. I then let them sit overnight. The next day I lube then up and they are ready to shoot. I can do 2500 at a time and this lasts a while.
I find the RWS, JSB, and H&N pellets are clean enough to shoot without cleaning. I just lube them and shoot.

Hi Aaron,
Water moisture is bad. Water causes metal barrels to rust
Oil lubes are often used with CO2, PCP, and multi-pump airguns. I use Slick 50 Lube-1 for my HW40 pellets. Oil lubes will often ignite when used in springer airguns so wax based lubes are used.
Your pellets should be fine unless you are shooting them from a magnum air rifle. I'm not sure if the Hoppie's oil is safe on rubber seals so be careful.
If you wash pellets in soapy water and do not lube them you will get oxidation after a while. The lube helps slow this process. Some factory pellets are pre-lubed which is great, as long as they are clean.
HTH,

qc=quality controlQC???
the crosman pointed pellets seem to outperform the premiers (die #3) in my 2240. i've also tried the rws superpoints and found them to be even less accurate than the premiers.
do you guys see any improvement in performance from cleaning and oiling the pellets?
not too bad for a 23 year old university student, eh?

It looks like I'm the only shooter who likes 7.9 Premier hollow points in the red tin. They are accurate enough for me to consistantly hit practice golf balls, pill bottles and metallic silhouettes in my little 25 yard home plinking range. I rarely miss a target. I shoot much modified Crosman 1377 pistols a majority of the time. When it's windy I shoot Premier heavy pellets packaged in a tin. They don't drift much at all in a crosswind.
Y'all can send your crummy Premiers to me, thankyou.
BTW, my all time favorite plinking pellet is the no longer produced Marksman Silhouette. I only have about 300 left.

Cleaning - The purpose is to remove lead dust, lead chips, crud and grime from the pellets. This helps keep barrel clean which helps with accuracy.thudthumper wrote:qc=quality controlQC???

Lubing - This helps prevent leading with high velocity air rifles. All airguns will benefit from the micro film of lube left in the barrel which helps prevent rust. Rust is not a good thing.
I found the JSB Exact, Crosman CP, and H&N FTT(same as Beeman FTS) to be very accurate from the Cr2240 that I tested. Although the RWS pellets that I tested were not top performers in the Cr2240 they do perform well in other airguns.

.177 Premier Hollow Point
I bought Crossman Premier Hollow point last month from canadian tire. About 5% fall right through the barrel of my Webley Hurricane Pistol and some fit tight.

Crosman QC is shall we say...
lacking.
For absolute accuracy inside of 25 yds, do the Meisters. The points are good too. ANYTHING but Crosman. Their QC is..... AWOL
