(LINK_DC YOU SHOULD READ THIS) Quest 500->Quest 1000 Info
i have a question, all i want to do is change the piston, but in one of your links it says you should do this when changing the piston
"then you going to have to cut the piston down to 5 9/16 inches from the bottom of the seal., then your going to have to make the trigger hole .."square" 2/16 from the top and then the cocking grove 5/16 from the trigger hole"
do i have to do all this just to change the piston? and also what does shim mean?

Your better off just buying a Quest 1000 piston. So that you don't have to hassle yourself by modifying the old piston. Shimming means putting washers on the inside of the piston for the spring to sit against. This gives the spring more pre-load boosting the fps by a little more. Superlube will "suffice" your lubing needs just fine. I use it on almost every break barrel with great results. You can get it at NAPA. Or other auto parts stores.

Good choice. I hope it works out for you. How do you like your Quest to begin with? Is it accurate with just the irons? I know they don't like scopes too much. They are nice looking break barrels. If one ever went on sale I would consider it. I wonder how it would compare to my CZ631 or my Diana 24? It would probably be better than my RM422 parts wise.

well the when i first got it i liked it, becuase it was my first airgun, but then i started hearing all this stuff about it like people saying its very hold sensative and its really bad with a scope, then i started not liking it, the one thing i dont like about it is that when you cock it, you can hear the spring creak and stuffRM422 wrote:Good choice. oh cool, so how do you like your Diana 24, could you put a scope on it? like it doesnt have any barrel lockup consistancy? becuase im tottally getting that one! so far i have $150 saved up, and hopefully my sister is still in on paying $150 for it, first she said she would pay 200, then she said 150, and now she told me she doesnt want to spend her money on me..... hopefully i can convince her to pay at least 100!RM422 wrote:My Diana 24 is pretty smooth but I can hear a bit of spring creak. Thats normal in all spring guns.
