thanks! yeah, i dont have anything to build my design with either... one day though, i will. in the meanwhile, theres other people with lathes and whatnot :)

well, what kinda gun are you designing? pump?

nah, i've only ever worked with CO2, so that's easy for me to visualize. in my design, i'm planning on using fairly low pressure (about 500psi) and a long barrel to achieve atleast 650 [fps] (edit) for a .22 cal pellet. i'm doing some math right now to see if it's even possible. my formula doesn't take into account drag from the barrel or gas leaking around the pellet...i guess i'll factor that in once i actually test a prototype at the chrono.

i only have a drill press to work with, so i can't make my own valve :cry:

how do you get 650 psi from 500 psi?

i assume 500psi and 650 f/s
.
off co2 i find a .22cal ,14.3 gr pellet will only go a little faster in f/s then the psi . 500psi = 500f/s +- , at full power co2 may be 900psi but i have not seen co2 powered guns reach over 900f/s .
