Snazzy :D

I have two of those mastercraft work benches in my workroom, they were on liquidation a while back ;)

What kind of lathe do you use and where did you buy it?

Im thinking of maybe buying one in the US and bringing it over the border some time in the future.

Actually the benches are Gorrila (better built)Costco, the lathe is a AT-300-2 it was purchased a # of years ago thru House of tools. Kinda a Korean nock off of the older Smittybuilt

House of tools and Busybee have not to bad of starter lathes and mills, you just might safe a bit shopping locally.

Very Nice. How big is the hole trough the spindle on your machine, and are you generally satisfied with it?

I really need a better vertical milling machine but it doesn't have to be big. I was thinking of getting a three-in-one machine because I could set it up do do both vertical and horizontal milling as the need arises.

Very nice workshop.

Looks like a few of us have those Mastercraft benches at home too.

Take care,

metalmunch.
i have 2 mill/ lathes bought from busybeetools.com , had them for years ,and they still run great . there is one on sale for $1800. .it has a 1.125 spindle bore ,and 18'' between chuck and center in tail . 8'' crosstravel 4'' compound travel . speeds of 90-1400 . (should be slower for cutting threads )
they are a good cheap machine . i have made many guns and parts just on one of these machines ,( highly recomend them).
just picked up a 4'' self centering/ rotating vise for one , makes life easier $250 on sale . awesome for drilling and sloting ,never adjust again after the first time.

My bore upon the spindle is 28mm. As for any regrets for sizing not really I got a friend who has a lathe with a 4" bore so if I need it I can use it.

Just haven't gotten into that big of a cannon he he lol
