Re: blass bedding and scope reeming
I glass bedded a B21 (springer) a few years back because I was at my wit's end in an attempt to make it shoot groups. Turns out that it was exactly the cure and it took a "POS/throw in the gargage" gun and turned it into a nice shooter. Not sure if a QB would benefit or not. All mine (up to 6 now ) seem to be quite tightly bedded in the wood right from the factory so I'm not going to bother...having said that, I suppose that a 'loose fit' QB might react quite well to a bedding job.quickreply7789 wrote:ok- kinda like the title:

Never reamed mounts but it would sure tend to pull the 'crooked' out of them and also serve to prevent 'ring-ding' from out-of-line mounts...in particular if one is mounting one of them there REALLY expensive scopes. I know a lot of gunsmiths (and gun owners) do it on the higher end powder burners......and mounting a scope is the same no matter what kind of gun it goes on......so.....why not? Probably a real good idea.

Re: blass bedding and scope reeming
Just a few more comments on this subject. In the old days I stayed away from a scope reamer because of the initial cost - now it's at 125.00 US for one at Brownells http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ ... T%20REAMER
allthough they are still a good idea if one is going to do a bunch of scope installs. An interesting alternative (that does work...just not 'quite' as well, is to purchase a piece of 1" metal rod (steel, brass - doesn't matter). Lightly mount the rings to the rod and then position them on the rod according to where you want them on the gun. Semi-firmly attach them to the gun and then firmly tighten the rings on the rod. Once they are tight on the rod then they ae alligned on axis. Now tighten them on the gun (with the rod still in place). If everything works as it should you can now remove the rod. The rings, having been pre-alligned, 'should' stay in place on axis.
This has been shown to work quite well.....except on the really cheap Chinese type rings. Having said that, it's now been a few years since I was installing many, many scopes (well into the 100's) and maybe the Chinese QC has improved. A suitable rod (1") should only be a few bucks at any metal supply store (or machine shop) so there's not much to lose if this doesn't work for you.
