my new 2240 modified chrony results

#1 Post by razpizdiay »

hey guys,

tested my modified 2240 (or 2250, as i got 2250 upgrade kit)
i did NOT mod the valve, transfer port, hammer spring yet

it has a tasco 4-16x50mm scope on it.

here are the results:

crosman copperhead hunting (pointed) pellets - 14.3gr - 558.7fps 565.6fps 564.5fps
beeman kodiak pellets - 21.1gr - 495.3fps 488.9fps 487.8fps
skenco type 1 pellets - 11gr - 622.4fps 616.2fps 618.1fps
benjamin sheridan diabolo (round) pellets - 14.3gr - 559.1fps 565.6fps 563.1fps
gamo hunter (round) pellets - 15.3gr - 554.3fps 551.2fps 549.7fps

these results are sort of inconsistent, but that may be because i did not have a perfect set up for the chrony and the gun

i think the gun performs AMAZINGLY well considering that its just a 2240 with a 24" barrel.

Wow - Thats pretty sweet man.

I just might have to put a 2289 barrel on a 2240 one day... because for me - portability is key. If I lived in the country - I'd go 24".

Do you figure your valve has the bleeder hole in it?

awww, i love compliments :-)

i am positive that the 2240 has no bleeder hole. and the funny thing is i dont live in the country - in center of toronto :-), well North York.

i am sure you will find a 24 inch barrel very portable, i was actually surpried how small it was ! i was expecting the gun to look like a handgun with a meter long barrel attached to it.

i also have another steel breech kit and a 24 inch .177 barrel - thinking to put it on a 2289 (used to have one, sold it). now thinking to buy it either from LeBaron or my friend (his shoots at 300fps for some reason though... hopefully i can fix it)

Skenco pellets are great on 2240, they slide nice and easy to the breech and barrel and if you're looking for deep penetration. Accuracy is as good as any other pellets but trajectory is higher than regular pellets.

would you think they would be good for some long distance can sniping. do you think they would drop much in flight?

all objects drop at the same speed. you're the one who determines how "flat" your gun will shoot when you sight it. for me, that's half the fun; sighting at different distances and finding out how well the trajectory works for my shooting needs.
not too bad for a 23 year old university student, eh?
