Why do you get treated like a criminal when buying airguns?

This is the place to talk about everything airgun related including air rifles, air pistols, pellet guns, pcp airguns and more.

Hi Under500fps,

Thanks for posting this information. I knew there were certain American states that had strict airgun laws but I didn't know it was that bad.

I guess our Canadian laws are not so bad afterall. After obtaining a PAL, we can have any caliber of airgun and any velocity output. PAL rated air pistols are still over-regulated but the number of popular options is small anyway.

Without a PAL we can still have any caliber of air rifle or pistol(.177, .22, .25, 9mm, etc). Only a 500fps limitation.

Thanks,
Todd

"Residents of New Jersey can buy bb guns through a designated local gun store after acquiring an Airgun Permit. Cite from New Jersey law: 'A "firearm" means any handgun, rifle, shotgun, air gun, gas gun, machine gun, or "any gun"

Its really not that bad. I was talking to a cop about and he told me just send it to a friend across the NJ border and pick it up. Thats what I ended up doing. Noone really even cares. Hell, we shoot during school hours in the school during JROTC. The only place that it is really bad California I would hate to live their.

Yah they don't do that anymore. We've been cut down to just using the Daisy 853C. Yuck. I've shot that way too much. Although in some Corps they use various different .22 rifles. My corp uses the Lee-Enfield .22. I'm not too sure about the model number. I'll get back to you on that one. All I'm sure of is that the rifles were donated to use by the army, they were used in WWII.

20 years ago we were using Enfield MK3s sleeved down to .22cal. I shot numerous one holed groups with open sights in a dirty old shack in the middle of nowhere with 'em. When we weren't on the line our entire corps was packed into a tiny room with one tiny window and we chainsmoked out of sheer boredom. Good times. . .

litter, everyone is going to hate me for saying this but here it goes....

1. Kids in school are getting shot buy shyt with pellet guns!

2. Citizens are getting robbed, car jacked by shyt with pellet guns!

3. My nephew got shot in the back by some puck with a pellet gun who thought it was funny!

Basically, I hate the fact that I too, who falls between the age of 30 to 100, get asked for ID or escorted to the front of the store by some young kid. Mind you, if she is a sweet one, I will ask her for her number too.

But the matter is, or at least this is how I feel, if these shyt do not stop using airguns for illegal or stupid actions, there might be a day that we will not have to worry about showing ID for airguns because there won't be anymore guns to buy.

Friends, fellow members of this great forum... litter will I be pissed off if that day comes around. When is the next election????

Take care everyone,

Hi Under500fps,

Yah, back when I was in high school we shot smallbore in the school basement too. Several high schools had shooting ranges and they also practiced archery. We had a cabinet of Mossberg 144 rifles and a couple of BRNO #4s. All the school ranges in this city were closed quite some time ago. Too bad...
