Hmm.... Why bull-pup design are prohibited? Strange laws.calculator wrote:It just saddens me that we can't get them in Canada. Bull-pup designs are prohibited in Canada. For more info do a search on the the Walther G-22......a sad story.....mainly because my Canadian Tire bought one and we can't sell it

If it is prohibited how do you explain the open sale of the QB-57 and the Xisico XS B9-1, I think youre mistaken on the bullpup prohibitions in Canada. That is nonsence...at least for airgunscalculator wrote:One might ask, "Why is the Bull-pup design prohibited in Canada?"
The best answer that makes sense is:
"It looks fun."
Plain and simple if it's fun and has to do with guns, it is prohibited or restricted.

I am 100% sure on the prohibition of of the bull-pup design. Our wonderful government has banned the design without oublic notice which is illegal. The wonderful story is the Walther G22. We have a G22 at the store and we can't sell it to anyone because we don't have a prohib. licence. We tried to sell it a month ago and couldn't get any help from your regular CFC employees. We had to talk to someone with importance there and they told us that we coudln't sell it because it was prohibited as well as all bull-pup designs. Maybe airguns are a different story though.
Anyways, I can not find any BAM XS-B9-1's for sale in Canada on the internet and North Sylva doesn't carry them.
EDIT: The QB-57 and XS-B9-1 are not classified as bullpup. Apparently the action is not behind the trigger as required to be a bullpup. To me, the action is 99% behind the trigger, but I guess that's not enough to call it bullpup.

I got my B9 at North Sylvia so they did carry it at one point, the Qb57 is available redily at a place here in Edmonton. And by the way the action on them IS behind the trigger (the B9 has a 16 shot magazine that sits in the handle behind the trigger) and therefore they ARE a Bulpup design as you can see in this picture:calculator wrote:Anyways, I can not find any BAM XS-B9-1's for sale in Canada on the internet and North Sylva doesn't carry them.

So as far as Airguns are conserned, Id say the Bulpups are perfectly legal in Canada otherwise I don't see how these places could sell them.

That's a much better picture than I found on the internet. That makes it clear that the action is behind the trigger.
They must not classify it as bull pup since the magazine sits within the chamber there. But anyways, there has to be a reason for them to not classify it as being a bullpup design, which is strictly prohibited.

I think the reason the B9 and the QB-57 are not banned due to their bullpupishness is their factory rating of 480 fps in .22 cal.
I am reasonably certain that the Edgun Matador would not be allowed into Canada.
I could be mistaken but the reasoning behind prohibition of bullpups is more aesthetic than practical. They look scary. Scary like a removable magazine, pistol grip, flash arrestor or bayonet lug (although folding bayonets are ok).
Thanks for the picture Lavender, Now I'm thinking impure thoughts . . .
