Sounds like you fellows have been working hard to structure a Pistol FT shoot....
I realize that pistols do present a bit of a challenge in the way of guide lines that keeps everyone onside with the current laws of this country... Over the limits and the pistols move into the Restricted class which limits where and by whom they could be used... The guide lines you fellows laid out will allow for everyone to join in on the fun.... 8) 8) 8)

Thanks and much appreciated....

Question on Positions (C) Forced Kneeling:

You state that the pistol cannot rest on any surface.... does that include your arm?.... eg. arm on knee, pistol on arm....

Same basic question for Position (B) Forced Offhand:

Your arms cannot be supported from the ground.... but can the pistol rest on your arms?.... eg. bent elbow holding onto opposite wrist, pistol on elbow....

Hi Bob

You will be able to rest the gun on your arm and shoot offhand as you indicated above.

However for the kneeling shot, you will not be able to rest the gun, just your arms/elbows on the front knee or thigh and the gun must be in your hand/hands that is/are not rested or supported from the wrist forward.

Does that explain it OK?

Thanks for posting this CS. Just to confirm the distances will be 10 to 25 yards? Are there going to be full 60 shot matches? What size kill zones can we expect at what distances? Will my 360fps pistol have enough energy to knock down a target at 25yds? Are the targets modified to react to such low energy levels?

1) 10-25 yards, yes.
2) Length of match is whatever the MD's decide. Not set in stone. Could be a full match. Partial match. Combined with another discipline.
3) We did have 1.50, 1.75, and 2.00 inch listed at one time. Not sure where it is now.
4) The plan is to have targets that will fall with far less impact energy. Likely in the sub 2fpe range vs. 5fpe range with rifles.

Is there any different classes of pistols ? .... match pistol, 2240 , 600 ... anything goes ? ...... as long as fit the criteria ?

Any pellet restriction or bb's are ok too ?

The classes will come from the sighting used. Open or non magnified sights will be one class and scoped or magnified will be the other class.

Only pellets made completely of lead or lead alloy may be used. BBs would result in dangerous ricochets from the metal targets.

Is the Creedmore position allowed in 'freestyle'? In other words, does "body" include the legs or is it just a reference to the trunk?

Interesting link here with good photos of shooting positions,,,,,,,,,,,

DrF:

The Creedmore position would be allowed in PFT as a "Freestylye" position, but there will be no concessions made in regards to the ability to see the targets on the lanes. There may be a few lanes where it can be used as a stable shooting stance, but in most cases there could be obsticles that might hide the targets when you are that close to the ground. HTH.

I dont know if you guys remember Chris P. (I know him mostly from my archery) but he came out and shot an entire match using the Creedmore position and from what I recall did quite well.
