What do you guys think of the Daisy 953? Does it shoot as accurately as the 853? The 953 does Not have a Walther barrel while the 753 and 853 doesw. Any thoughts? What pellets does your 953 prefer>?
I had a 853 years ago and foolishly sold it to a good friend!
I loved the 853, it shot very well, only complaint was the trigger. there are articles online on how to improvbe the trigger.
Is there enough room front to back to mount a regular scope or are you limited to a short Beeman SS3 or red dot due to length?
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Daisy 853 or 953?
I have both guns, the 853c and the 953.
My 953 is about 2 years newer than my 853c. I think Daisy re-tooled when they release the 953 and the QC and molding of the parts are definitely better. A lot smoother to operate out-of-the-box.
Also the 953 polymer stock is model after the 753, which is more of a target stock Than the 853c. I like the shape of 953 stock better. The texture of the stock is pretty nice, does not feel cheap.
The 953 comes with open sights, where as the 853 comes with low end Daisy peep. Kind of poor IMHO. Get the better Daisy (Gamo) peeps as used on the 753. Daisy sells them for the 953 as accessories.
The actions of the 853c and 953 are identical. The only difference is the LW barrel on the 853c. The Daisy barrel is nice also, it just takes a bit more breaking in time to reach its maximum potential. Very much like the difference between the Daisy 717 and the 747 pistols.
If I were you, I'll get the 953 with the more target oriented stock, get the Daisy premium peeps (Gamo), a whole pile of match pellets, and shoot the living daylights out of it.
In the end, you will pocket some change, got a more comfortable stock, better peep sights and end up a better shot because you practice so much to break in the Daisy barrel.

Dollar for dollar i would go for the 953.
I have both the 853c & 953.
I find both scopeable but the 853c a bit more accurate, but i am no expert
On this link is what i did to my 953 and it work very good for me for 33' anyway.
