760 rifled barrel?

#1 Post by xcr800 »

I bought a new 760 and was dissapointed to find out the barrel was not rifled. Is a rifled barrel avalible? will one off past models work? i would like to improve accuracy if possible.

I belive it is not rifled because it also shoots BBs, which are a no-no for rifled barrels.

The 760 made in 1978 had a rifled barrel. Thats was the only one though. Call crosman and see if they still have rifled barrels.

I hear what your saying ,I had a 760 around the late '70s early eightys and it was a lot more accurate than the new 760 i have now.I changed the valve with one out of an old 1322 (no bleeder hole) to up the Fps. so if I could find a rifled barrel why not, really crosman parts don't exactly break the bank and its a cheap project rifle

Don't get me wrong....I had a Crosman 760 (circa 1977) hanging around for decades...resealed just once. Great rifle but it's not something I would go crazy with trying to upgrade.

i have one of the newer 760s. its funny, i have a nicer gun made in the ussr, but i cant seem to hit any thing with it, but the 760 i was nailing soup cans from 50ft most of the time. (even with the POS sites that i hate)
it would be nice to have an even more acurat bbl, and to have nicer sites.
better yet, it would be nicer to have a metal reciver as well.
and maybe a scope mount. :D

if you want it then 20.00 plus the shipping and its yours its the only one i have left thats rifled

Would you mind elaborating why?Do they damage the barrel?

BB's are steel. Crosman barrels are very mild steel. Barrel erosion will be very rapid using steel bb's in a Crosman barrel.
