I am a bit surprise that there is not much talk about the B3-1 air rifle from Xisico. I do not think a 2289 is a bad rifle as I have tried out a buddy's and it is quite powerful for a non-pal airgun. However, the X3-1 is about the same in caliber and power and it is with only 1 pump. TCooper wrote up a review on the B3-1 which I thought was quite informative.

So, anyway, just wondering if anyone considered the B3-1.

Take care,

But how can you compare a spring rifle to multi-pump ???
you meant B5 .177

Hi Sniper,

Your right... I should not be comparing spring vs multi pump. But not too much write ups on the B3? I still say it is a good airgun.

As for the B5, that too is a great gun. I just wish it came in a .22 caliber version.

Take care,

I got both now, and am starting to prefer the 2289 over the b3-1.....using audacity I can squeeze almost 100 fps more out of the 2289, and it seems like there is room for more.

2289 is also at least 5lbs Lighter, even though the b3-1 folds up, the backpacker really is a backpacker....

One other thing the 2289 has going for it is there is hardly any recoil so groupings are alot tighter. Now I know crap about tuning a springer, perhaps the b3-1 can be tuned alot smoother, or even better, maybe I just gotta learn how to shoot a spinger.....

As for pumping versus pulling a lever once, b3-1 wins hands down.....

If I had to choose between the 2 for the purpose of small vermin control I would take the 2289, plinking and fun factor => b3-1.....

As for not fatally wounding prey and worrying bout the second shot, by the time the critter settles down enough for the second shot, you'll be pumped up and ready, that and a 2240 tucked in your coat will do the job.
