Winchester 500 XS from walmart
Hi, it has been a long since I last posted. I have just purchased a Winchester 500XS from Walmart for $170 (tax included). It said "made in Turkey" on the rifle. I suspect it is actually a Hatsan (mod 35 perhaps). If so, GMK is selling it for only $120.
Should I return the rifle to Walmart ?
How accurate is the rifle ?
Thx in advance for your help.

Hmm... I have a Winchester 500x, and the barrel is very easy to close after cocking, but I bet that either I got stronger (unlikely) or the barrel became looser later on, I remember it being kinda hard to close in the beginning too.
At 30 feet, with some chair support under the barrel, I usually can hit around a 1inch group, 4/5 times, using the stock sights, Crosman Wadcutters.
Cheers,
Alex

to treat your airgun barrel i use a few different products some of them are not neccesary but they wont hurt hoppes makes a cleaning kit for .22 rifles (not air) i bought one of these i use bascally everything in the kit minus the powder solovent. There is a spray called gun cleaner i blv i start with spraying that on anything metal (including down the barrel) let that sit for a minuit or so. then wipe off the gun and run a swab through the barrel. then take the bottle of oil that comes with it and oil all the seals and moving parts drop a generous amount down the barrel and then swab it. after it is all done spray the gun cleaner on a cloth and wipe down the parts of the gun that dont NEED oil. the gun cleaner is alchol based so it will disolve the oil

Does it look like this? http://www.hatsan.com.tr/mod_35.asppapaburger wrote:I have just purchased a Winchester 500XS from Walmart for $170 (tax included). It said "made in Turkey" on the rifle. I suspect it is actually a Hatsan (mod 35 perhaps). If so, GMK is selling it for only $120.
As far as i know, Hatsan is selling some of it's guns with a Daisy Winchester license, especially in North America, so its very possible for you to be right.
Yep, this is its week point, the trigger. If its made of plastic, as the Turkey models are, its not that good, since it can easily break, the trigger or its guard.Quigley wrote:I understand that the trigger on the Brazilian models is better.
As far as the price is consurned, i find it quite expensive for its level. You definetly can't compare it with a CZ Slavia 631 (accuracy, fiability), which is even cheaper.

I intend to buy a Hatsan mod 35 too, 600 fps here.. i just need a .177 cal airgun for target practice and plinking... and in a few weeks Gamo Raptor pellets will be available in my country also, the muzzle speed using it will end up to be over 700 fps, so using these you can shoot a pest or too also ... so are you pleased with the grouping you are taking with this airgun? (winchester or hatsan).. precision is everything im interested in consurning this airgun for now..
