760=1377?
760=1377?
Me and Al were chatting about his 760, he said he gets 750 fps (Equal to about 5 mps) with 15 pumps, and he said did all the mods here: http://www.crosmanmods.cjb.net/ Plus he added a 16" barrel... My question is, will a 1377 get equal v*l*c*tes (swear word) with the same mods?
Hey, don't hate. It releases negative energy, which is bad for everyone.

1377 might be my next purchase......
From what I understand about making the valve chamber bigger is that you need to pump in MORE air to get the same pressure......The plastic pump piston and cup seem to give out at a certain pressure level.....My 2289 stops pumping at around 25-30 pumps....It's all about the pump.....
Even though, 1377 with longer barrel and bleed plugged and pumped up to where the pump stops pumping should get you up into the low 600s.
Check out the crosman forum, tons of cool stuff on the pumpers there. You'll get a better idea on what it takes to get numbers up to 750......
You can get so far with simple mods, after that ya need machine shop work....
LOL, I can get my 2289 shooting at 750 too and I dont have to anything to the gun...When using audacity for sound readings, move the mic up beside the target........

Well, if you're plinking, it sucks, but if you're hunting, no problem. With a short forearm like on the 760 you would be surprised at how short of time it takes to pump it up.
Upankatz, what do you mean, "till the pump stops pumping"?

LOL...could always get a pcp and pump it 1200 times or whatever it takes to hand pump those suckers.....I think i'd sooner go out and pick up a .22lr, alot cheaper too.airgunfun wrote:A bit off topic but why the heck would anyone want to pump a gun 30 times to take a single shot???? I think the novelty of this will soon wear off....
As for 30 pumps, just seeing how much pressure the piston will take before it gives out......

After a cetain amount of strokes the piston aint strong enough to push any more air in valve.......ABshooter wrote:Well, if you're plinking, it sucks, but if you're hunting, no problem. With a short forearm like on the 760 you would be surprised at how short of time it takes to pump it up.

Thats why metal pistons, cutting off tip of valve to reduce empty headspace type of mods seem to be the way to go...gotta get that psi up....
Ive got a couple piston ideas floating in my head, maybe I'll act on em.

Ive been researching on this gun for a while. Apperantley a guy killed an opposum with 15 pumps. That was the American non downrated gun without the bleed hole. Still not sure whether to get this or the 2240.

Yes, Spencer!! I remember that post!! You registered at the Adventures in Airguns forum too? I'm registered there as ABshooter, I like that place, but two forums is about all I can handle LOLMCJROTC wrote:Ive been researching on this gun for a while. i would get the 1377, it has a larger transfer port which you can bore into = air flow = more fps. I my a metal piton at the U.W.O becuase my dad works there, he is an engineer and i am able so use some of their equiptment while they are not using it. so it only take about 15 pumps to reach 725-750 fps with the metal piston, with the stock one, it would be more like 40-50 pumps.
but go with the 1377, and do the mods on that site, and if you do everything right, with a 24 inch barrel you should be pushing more than 800 fps. my friend Skyler in south cal cronies his with a 24 inch barrel at 825.
and pumping a crossman is really not har at all, me being only 15 and 5'10, 174 and 6.7% body fat, its really not har at all. however i do weight train and i take various martial arts. trust me, its really not hard at all.
