#1 Post by bionic »

its a givin that both offer an impessive line of break barrel rifles. but for folks like me with no pal its a toss up between the HW30s and the RWS 24.
any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Being a big fan of both brands, it is a hard decision to make. But, the HW Rekord trigger is awesome, while the T05 is still quite good and the T01 IMO even better than the T05, the Rekord still wins in the trigger department. Though I don't own a 30s, I have used a couple and enjoyed them very much. But I have two 24's(.177&.22)and I will never part with them, very accurate, good triggers, finished well, 6.5fpe & 7.7fpe respectively, smooth with no twang out of the box, and just plain old easy and fun to use. I have three HW's; HW90, HW77k, & HW50s, so that's how I've learned to appreciate there quality design and trigger. Also having six Dianas; P5M, 2-24's, 2-48's, and a 34, I enjoy there quality and design aswell.

The 30s is just as fun, and equally accurate plinker, and is dressed up a bit more with a better front sight and rubber but pad. Once again IMO the trigger is the deciding factor.

The one sure advantage the Diana has is it's lack of spring noise, the HW has a bit of buzz but custom internals(fitted guide and spring)smooth them out very well.

The biggest thing to remember is that almost any model of Diana or HW is available in non-PAL version, not just the 30s and 24. HTH,

HW build quality is great , the Rekord trigger is as good as it get on high performance / high powered springers .

The price difference between the HW30s and the Diana 24 is about $40 ..
for that you will get the Rekord trigger , a rifle that has no droop , a recoil pad and slightly better finishing .They are close and you will like either choice ..but for $40 the HW 30s is the better choice .

it seems the HW has won over the Diana by a rather large margin.

interesting that Diana is an offshoot of alfred nobels dinamite company. (Nobel prize guy. invented dinamite)

The Weihrauch quality is Light years forward than the Dianawerke plastic lover.I have Air king FAC vesion with Maccary spring and other bips and bops, but the real German quality is very bright presented in the face of HW.No doubt. My HW's are mods:25;77k and 90.All they're Goooooooood!

Here is my modest collection:
