DIY tuned Quest 1000.

I think the problem is that lots of people post pictures and talk about mods but nobody ever posts groups with a scope.

I have a quest 500 that I've been modding up, new barrel shims, tune, spring shimming etc. As soon as the weather gets nice and I have the room to shoot I'll post some groups at different distances with different pellets.

I went out to do some groups, but i had forgotten to tighten my scope rings down after putting a shim in last night, groups looked like a shotgun
then it started raining, and i came in.
It'll have to wait i guess...

I think i had about dime size at about 10 yards the other day when i was fiddling with the scope zero...

Bumping up an old post here...

So what are people's gripes with the Quest 1000? I've borrowed one from my brother-in-law. He's never used the scope with it - first order of business is sighting it in.

Can people recommend some good field use (hunting) pellets that fire consistently with it? I'm going to take it up to the cottage, do some plinking, shoot some critters.

I wouldn't mind a Quest 1000, but I'm not too keen on cheap springers... Anyone know how accurate it is? (bolted in a vise or something)

And I know it's not 1000fps, it's just a model number, but is there a way to open it up to 1000fps?

sorry for the late reply.

It' not the scope that came with the quest. It's a bushnell banner scope. I'm thinking of selling both as a combo.

The Quest is one of those jewels in the rough so to speek. A good tune 940 (clean average) and a little bbl crowning I have shot dime size groups @ 31 yrds with them using JSB, Cr Prem 10.5 and Beeman FTS good little gun for the price. The trigger however, well ONLY so much can be done with this Crosman. But one can make it predictable.

I own one also, and White Wolf is correct. The Trigger can be replaced with a GTX or theres another one available also for it at CharlieDaTuna's web site. These guns are alright if you get that Nylon Bushing changed over to a Brass one for $9.99usd. I actually have lowered the power in mine to around 700. There was a thread in here were someone had done this by lowering the power level. I'm not sure who it was, but I made some comments in his post about the Quest 1000... :) Theres more to Airguns then just power, theres accuracy which is the most important thing to me...

No thats not it at all. It was a thread about tuning a Quest 1000 down to an HW 35/50 something like that. That threads about illegal activity sorta. I totally forgot, I'll go back through my posts and find it. Take awhile though  It was concerning the 1000 and making it shoot better without all the high power mods to it. Around no more then 750-(fps) which makes it a better AG by far. It was written by a well known member also...

Mike...

Edit: The second part by TCooper was more like it, it might well be him that wrote it. That was the velocity the guy was talking about. Under 700 I think
