Yunkers #3 review

#1 Post by OddJobs »

I bought one of Yunkers 3 off CrazyBean on the forum. I am into all types of airguns and I figured this would be a bit of a novelty.

First of all CrazyBean was excellent to deal with. The gun was shipped quickly with a tracking number and arrived within a week from across Canada. All of my Emails were answered within a day. Not in a box but very well packaged with tons of bubble wrap.

As far as appearance goes, it looks and feels EXACTLY like a AK74. There is an access hole on the side of the mag to release the inner magazine that would give it away to the trained eye. As far as fit and finnish goes its exactly what you would expect from Russia. Anyone who has handled a real AK or SKS will be familiar with it. Solid but a little rough around the edges. The finish is basic flat black. Not sure if it paint or powder coat.

The magazine houses the CO2 cart and a single stack of BBs. To load BBs or change cartridges you have to remove the magazine from the gun then pull the inner CO2/BBs assembly out of the mag. A bit of a pain but not too bad.

The gun is essentially double action only. The bolt cycles but its just for looks. Field stripping is just like a real AK.

I have not chrono it yet. Accuracy is around 2-3” at 10 yards off hand, but you don’t buy this for the performance. The barrel looks like its a smooth bore. Sights don’t adjust for windage. There is a scope mount bracket on the left side of the receiver.

Over all its basically a DEWAT AK that fires BBs.

Yunkers 2 & 3

#2 Post by RustyHill »

Hi - I have just bought one of these in England. As you say, just like the real thing even down to the 3.5kg weight...

Now the bad news.. after 3 rounds it jammed and if you try firing it now the steel BBs just end up in the breech.. sad...

Anyone got any ideas how to clear this type of jam? I think with the mag. removed the barrel should be clear with no mechanism or valve in it. (Doesn't the mag. have all the trigger & valve parts in it?)

Thanks!
