need rear sight
Xisico made a perfect (for what I need) rear sight on their KL-3B (Fast Deer) that simply clamped onto the existing scope ring grooves. Unfortunately, Xisico advises that they have none in stock..........and the KL-3B is discontinued. Anybody know if Xixico uses this particular sight on any other guns in their line............... or what other sight might work in its place?????

It seems there is no other known and available rear sight that will fit the 3/8" dovetail like that Fast Deer sight. You want one, I want some, tons of people want them. OK, there's supposedly one other similar one, the LPA from the US Crosman custom shop, but I've not yet found info from anybody who's bought one or seen it mentioned, so I don't know if they can really be bought (yet?). LPA doesn't list them anyway. I've looked pretty hard too. The Williams sight will work on some guns, but not all, it's a different style though.
Somebody's got to make those Fast Deer sights, and with the right connection they could probably be had in some quantity for cheap (after all, the guns they came on often sold for like US$35 or less, I've seen new ones for $25 in old ads).

Hey Gus,
Am I understanding you right? You need a rear sight that mounts on the 3/8 dovetail rail? Is 3/8" the same as 11mm? If it is then a sight from an HW77 should fit the bill well. I have a 77k and the rear sight slides onto the dovetail from the rear of the reciever. Are the ends of the rail on the Fast Deer open at the end? HTH,

Edit: P.S. You look really silly too!

Is the rear sight from the 77 completely different from the one on the other models, such as the 30? Does its elevation screw need to go into a threaded hole in the receiver? The one from the 30 won't work. The Fast Deer one just slides on the receiver dovetail and is "self contained" in that no machining etc. is required. Thanks.
The 77's rear sight is independant from the reciever, other than clamping to the dovetail, which is nice because it can be moved forward or back to help the shooter find the best posistion for there eyes. It sounds to me like the 77's rear sight should be a match for the FD, but I have no idea what they are worth to purchase.

Thanks, it sounds cool, though it might be a little high for the OP's purpose?? Hard to find a good pic of that sight, so many have replaced it with a scope in their pics. I too hate to consider the cost based on other HW accessories, so I wouldn't want to buy one purely on spec. Also, its length might be an issue for me, on a Crosman breech. Maybe somebody has tried it, though this is the first time I've seen it mentioned as a possibility.

rear sight
The cost of these other suitable replacement sights is definitely a problem........... in a lot of cases they are more money than the gun I want to put it on. The FD sight was priced at 2.00 each when I spoke to Xisico...........but they can quote any price they like if they don't have any. I did, however, have to install a higher front sight as the FD sight is a bit too high for the stock front sight on a 22XX.
Oh well, (sigh), have to just keep looking I guess

sight
Mulby - 11mm is about 1/16" larger than 3/8". the sight 'might' work but would be offset a little......... I don't know if this would effect the whole deal or not. I also suspect that the cost of the HW sight might tend to be prohibitive. I just got another message from Xisico who advise that they are working with the factory to see if these sights could be made available. I initially ordered 10 of them but I have no problem with ordering 100 if that's what it takes and then I would just make them available at a very slight markup. If they stick to their original quote of 2.00 each then it will probably cost more to mail one than the cost of the sight.Mulby wrote:Hey Gus,

Yes - some of us do look silly

^ Much good karma be upon you if you succeed in getting them. Keep me in mind. I know an interest in the Fast Deer sights comes up fairly often in the forums. Many people, like me, do the Crosman breech swap without realising the dearth of available iron sights.
Edit: Whoa, did you see that? Crosman custom shop is shipping some steel breech kits with a *cross-dovetail* that can fit normal handgun rear sights. Not that those sights are real cheap, but at least there are tons of them and most quite decent. This explains how they're getting an LPA sight to work, because I never found LPA made a "regular" dovetail model so presumed it was custom for Crosman.
