i was doing some target shooting today, 25 meters, bench rested. all my groups seem to start in the center and string off to the left... ? any ideas why?

Oh, my mistake, I didn't read the trailing... I did this when I started shooting in Cadets. The problem is you're tired and your arm keeps slipping (it is a single shot rifle?) or another problem could be trigger contol, are you squeezing the trigger? And the last problem you should think of is your rifle. Try shooting it on a vice grip to confirm it isn't your rifle. "Always assume it's the shooter before the rifle" is what I got taught a while ago.fltsgtbriggs wrote:if it were the sights that were off then the whole group would be to the left not trailing to the left
Another possible problem is eye relief. I do this myself sometimes; everytime you reposition the rifle make sure you keep your eye relief with the sight (the distance between your eye and the rear sight) the same everytime. What I did to train myself to keep the same eye distance is I found a comfortable distance, took a popsicle stick and measured out the eye relief and taped it to the rear sight. Then every time I aimed my eye would go to the same distance everytime (or I poked my eye), then I took the popsicle stick off and tried again. Now I don't even have to worry about eye distance

spoken like a true cadet Gotrice..were you army air or sea? anyway if your left handed it could be any combo of three problems A) thumbing B) Squeezing whole hand with trigger pressure C) Anticapating recoil
If your right handed it could be A) to much or two little trigger finger B) Pushing/anticapating recoil/no follow through C)squeezing fingers while applying trigger pressure[/img]

well, no sling. nice pupose build leather sandbags for shooting. im a good shooter... i think. i dont flinch when the gun goes off and i can see that the crosshairs dont leave the bullseye. im kinda thinking maybe barrel movement? like its whipping, know what i mean? its a 24" barrel on a 2240... so its kinda flimsy.
thatnx for the pointes though!
and yeah, fltsgtbriggs, i'll throw an email your way tonight.
