So I went to my local painball shop yesterday to get some of my CO2 tanks refilled.
The drone behind the counter refused to fill my 3.5 oz tanks (DOT-3E1800 M9001 10A99 J44) and one of my 20 oz tanks (DOT-3AL 1800 M5343 01A02). Stating that they lacked the Transport Canada Stamp.
Now, I know that the 3.5 oz tanks are exempt from hydrotesting due to their being under 2" in diameter and 2' in length. And I know from the date stamp that the 20 oz has another year on it before it requires hydro.
Can someone point me to the "new regulation" that requires the TC stamp? My google-fu is weak.

not sure about your tanks but if you get tanks stateside alot aren,t canadain csa safe. they cannot legally fill a non compliant canuk stats tank. if you buy co2 tanks get them up here or you can run into trouble. I only know cause a buddy of mine owns a paintball shop and he filled me in on the legal...
The hydro has nothing to do with the filling laws on this matter. the t.c stamp legal has been around for years but alot of guys/buisness don,t know about it or don,t care.

The funny thing about the 3.5 oz tanks is, they were manufactured in Canada. Albeit, before the TC stamp thing came into effect. The date codes indicate that these tanks were manufactured in '99. DOT regulations in the states do not require these tanks to be hydrotested ever. They only need to be retired if they fail a visual inspection.

Almost all PB places will not touch a tank without a TC stamp on it. Regardless of law, its their choice to fill only TC stamped tanks. That said, I am almost 100% certain tanks need a TC stamp since 2004 by law.
5 minutes on google yeilded this, which tells you its law. Its a brutal read though.
Transport Canada code B339 and B340

Basically containment vessels without TC stamps are prohibited from being filled or hydro'ed.
