Hi all,
Me again, more questions
Shooting my BSA meteor tonight at some longer ranges 50 ft and 31 ft.
Finding that after the gun sits for a while ( 20 min) and I start trying to shoot a set the first 3 or 4 shots are way low and not very accurate, at 50 ft I am starting off with an 8 inch drop for the first shot, second comes up to around 6 inch third shot comes up to around 3 inch and then I fire 6 shots trough the same hole with a 2-7/8 inch drop from center.
I am guessing that the gun is just warming up and as the lube becomes warm it developes more power and levels off the shots.
If this is the case what do you guys suggest for lube that won't do this.
I am shooting outside tonight and it is around 5 deg C at the moment. So things are cooling down fast.
Thanks again for helping me out.
Wes

Hi Wes ,
Lubes will tend to thicken and slow things down some , some FT shooters will shoot 5 rds into the ground just to warm up a little .
Haveing said that you probably need to tear it down , clean up the internals ..degrease with brake degreaser , and apply a good Molly grease containing 65% or better molibdenum di sulphide , it will make it very consistant ..and more tolerant of temp changes ..it will not need to be reserviced for a long time . You may want to have a piston seal and a breech seal handy they will probably need changeing too .

Thanks again Frank,
I will try tearing it apart this weekend and re lube it. There are some other things I want to work on while apart. the trigger on it seems really hard to pull, Going to clean it up a bit while it is apart. Just polish the parts that have to slide against each other and then make sure there is some lube on them.
