I made me a bead!

#1 Post by Steeb »

I was bored the other day and decided to put a front site back onto my cz630. But silly me went and chopped off the barrel to make it more pointable. So after some brain fartage as to what to use. I remembered I still have my qb78 front site that im no longer using. So i drilled my 630 barrel and tapped it to fit the screw. After shooting and noticing poi was 2 inches high with the rear site all the way down. The front site needed to be higher. So i drilled a hole with the smallest bit i had into my front blade, and gooped in a shortened round head sewing pin. Now my poi is where my poa is and its no longer a pia. :)

Nice lookin' rifle Steeb!

Questions:
How short did you chop the barrel?
Overall length of rifle?
Any accuracy change?
Pellet preference?

Thanks,
Todd

Hey thanx Todd. Yeah i definately like it again. Having the lighter weight is a nice change.

Barrel is 14 3/4 inches.
39 inches oal.
Accuracy seems to be the same, except for what kind of pellets it will tolerate. Before the chop, it would group Jsb match pellets the ones in the yellow tin nice and tight. Only wider skirted pellets will group decently now. Gamo hunters were the pellet's it liked. I just ordered some JSB exacts in 4.53 and they are grouping tighter than the gamos thats for sure.
Im not sure how to measure the group size, but a dime will definately cover all 3 pellet holes, with some of the holes touching at times.
When i had a scope on, it would do clover leafs at 20 yards.

Hi Steeb,

Thanks for the reply. One more question.

I was loking at a CZ630 this afternoon, at a local gunstore. How do you adjust windage on the 630? The elevation seems adjustable with the slotted screw in the rear sight but I couldn't see any windage screw.

Thanks again,
Todd

Ah yeah ive read in the manual that you are supposed to lift up the sight and shift it left or right. But mine seems to be very tight so i use a flat head screw driver and twist it to adjust.
 I use this lil rifle for cans only so i dont have to be as precise as a dedicated hunter.
