Walmart now selling Winchester 500

#1 Post by TCooper »

I was at Walmart this afternnoon so I cruised through the airgun section to see if there was anything new. They now sell the Winchester 500 (scope included) for $149.94. I'm pretty sure this is still the Turkish Hatsan rifle with poor trigger. It looks like a Hatsan model 35S with a regular style wooden stock (regular grip). I saw the 35S safety button at the rear of receiver, which the plain 35 doesn't seem to have.

I have never shot the Quest 500 or Winchester 500 (Hatsan 35S) so I cannot give an answer. Maybe someone here has tried both rifles.

I "lube tuned" and did some shooting with a friend's Hatsan 55 and was not impressed. Loud, lots of recoil, poor breech seal design, sloppy trigger design. Accuracy was okay for the 10m groups I shot (offhand).

The Quest 500 is for sure a better gun than the Winchester 500. I got both. I bought the Winchester hoping to score a CZ product as show on most catalogs. LOL. NOT!
I think LeBaron sells the Winchester 500 without the scope for $89.
