Cr Canada Steel Breech "Kit" follow-up:

#1 Post by Plink-Panther »

Hello Gang,

Phoning of course would have been faster and more accurate, but a week or two ago I emailed Crosman Canada wondering if they stock the Steel Breech Kit and what is the cost in Cnd $. I mentioned in the email it is available again on the U.S. site.

Got a reply but I will just let you guys read the email exchange below...

if part # 2240SBPK is indeed the Steel Breech "Kit" then it costs $1.00 less than if we were to only buy the steel breech alone. Make sense?

Most recent reply on top - original email on bottom...If you guys can extract clear meaning from it - let me know... cheers!

Part # 2240SBPK is $35.95 shipping and taxes are extra.

Thank-you for your reply,

It is the Steel Breech "Kit" I am inquiring about. The U.S. Crosman site advertises it here:

http://www.airguns.com/onlinestore listed under airgun accessories...which is slow to load it seems...

the write-up:

Steel Breech Kit
Now you, the airgun hobbyist, can attach your favorite accessories to your .22 cal. airgun. This Steel Breech kit not only has a superior look, but it alleviates the need to purchase separate parts. With all-steel construction, it provides durability which in turn may improve your accuracy. With just the use of the two hex wrenches included and a flat-head screwdriver, this breech will be attached and ready for your accessories. This kit may be attached to Crosman airgun model numbers 2240, 2250, 2260, 2289 and 1322. .

Model Number: 2240SBPK

Thank-you,

Will

Hello,

I see the steel breech kit is available again on the Crosman website.

Its listed at $29.99 USD. What is it in Cnd dollars please?

Also - is it compatible with a 2289 Backpacker?

The website write-up does not mention compatibility with any .22 cal airguns.

Thank-you very much. This is on behalf of a few acquaintences of mine also.

Plink, well done. I called Sylvie this morning and they could not find my fax of parts. I asked her if there was a steel breech kit available to us Canadians, she told me 'no' . I'll call again tomorrow and confirm with this part number. It appears that part numbers are crucial for dealing with Crosman.
Good price as the complete breech by parts is near $60can.

Perhaps it's about 35 USD, and it's still a very good deal.

The Crosman website states $29 USD for the Kit.

So $36 Cnd is, if correct - a magnificent bargain.

Still awaiting further confirmation.

Men, great news......

The 2240SBPK is indeed available and comes just as shown on the Crosman site under accessories. They are $30US on the site and to us up north are $35.95Can.

The .177 version is pt# 1377SBPK and is $30US so should be the same.

So I changed my order with Sylvie to the breech kit. at a minimum savings of $15Can.

So if I order this along with a .177 barrel, is that all I would need to convert a 2240 to .177?

Plink, all I know is that I will receive what is displayed on the Crosman site. The way it is worded all one needs for a conversion is a blade screwdriver. The highlighted parts ar breech and bolt with screws. Sylvie does not have a breakdown on the breech kit.
One thing to remember is it is made for scopes not the rear sights as standard.

The one problem you will run into is .177 bolt since CR doesn't have a screw-in .177 bolt & handle. One way to solve this problem if you have .177 bolt & handle already, drill out on one side so you can punch out the handle and use JB Weld when re-installing it back onto the CR steel breech. The other way is that to drill a hole on the other side of CR steel breech so you have an opening to reinstall the bolt handle using a hex screw or counter sink.

Doesn't the .177 kit include the bolt & handle? It should....

All I know is the Breech kit is sold as an upgrade and the pics on the site indicate a complete breech with bolt. The plastic breech uses a staked bolt handle that will not transfer to the new breech. When mine arrives I will order a 1377 breech as well provided it is truly a kit.
We need to get some US fan feedback.
Walter....
BTW the bolt handle is much different looking to the stock plastic breech handle so....... should be good to go!
