Guess what followed me home yesterday?

#1 Post by Marmot »

I went in to the local sporting goods store in Portage yesterday to pick up some pellets for the .357 and took a look at their airgun stock. They've got some pretty decent stuff (couple Dianas, some Hatsans, an IZH-61) but nothing I could really afford so I was about to leave when something caught my eye.

There, all forlorn and forgotten in top shelf was the most heart-wrenching ugly duckling airgun I had ever seen. The rubber buttpad was crooked, the varnish on the stock looked like diarrhea applied with a pushbroom, and it was covered in congealed dust and packing grease, yet something about it was familiar...

"What's that one over in the corner?" I asked the salesguy.

"Let me check, uhh, that's a Hatsan. Model B4-2."

B4-2, that's no Hatsan, it's a Xisico! Since I had never seen a Xisico up close, I asked the guy to take it down for me. Although it was the epitome of "rough around the edges" there was just something lovable about that ugly hunk of wood and metal. Plus, they had it marked down to $74 so the decision was made.

Half an hour later I was back at the farm and had "taken apart my eyes 30mm from the ocular circle" as per the instruction manual and loaded a Crosman Copperhead .22 pointed. With a pull of the incredibly stiff trigger and a dieseling "WHANG" it sent an iced tea can flying end over end with a massive hole punched dead center from 15m.

It's still smoking like a chimney but man, what a cool gun.

Very nice rifle, especially for the price you paid, you easily paid half of what they go for new... Congrats!

Not entirely true. If LeBaron actually honoured their catalogue and had them in stock, they have them listed for $68. But, as we all know LeBaron doesn't carry Xisico anymore.

GMK Armoury sells the B4 for $69.00. They have the B3 in stock (AK-47 appearance) for $109.99. I posted some prices recently.
