Fortunately, the only thing they have done so far is give the Quebec registry data to the Quebec provincial government.

Lol! Maybe, (remove) just to play it safe?! Good way to rile everyone up on a Sunday, on both sides, [emoji1]

Makes a guy wonder if they kept a copy of the other half as well hey, not that it would do a lot of good for them.

When Hay River Residents went to the detachment to get back their stolen guns, one Cst. said to one of them - "These 2 shotguns aren't registered to you". The resident replied that they are new acquisitions and there is no longer a long gun registry.

Hay River RCMP still has a copy and I suspect ALL other detachments do as well. Many gun owners I know, have completely sold then re-placed their guns with non-registered firearms.

I also know of other retired RCMPolice members who have done exactly the same as I have done.
Best Wishes

Interesting! Even more limited value now you'd think with all the new gun owners around. They pretty much have to assume every domestic dispute or drug bust they go to that the residents will have guns whether there is a history of registration or not.

FYI it was High River. But this is why I keep a copy of my S/N of all my NR firearms. And the ones that don't ( OLD cooeys and such ) I put my old military service number in behind the butt pad.

Hmm good idea leadslinger. I guess that was one advantage of the registration, police could quickly tell if they found guilty selling if they were registered to someone else and reported stolen. I like your solution better however!

Sorry my phone totally garbled my words. I meant to say police could quickly tell if they found guns in a criminal investigation if those guns had been registered to someone else and were reported stolen.

People have the possibility to report lost/stolen firearm to the Police CPIC system...

-

Unfortunately, some people are NOT reporting the lost/theft... for fear they'll be charged with unsafe storage...
