Re: Long Gun Registry
If you haven't had any guns-and-government-related panic since the UN marking scheme, which was resolved temporarily (again) a few weeks ago, take advantage of this opportunity. The NFA said it's happening. It must be true. It must be coming.
If you are in Quebec, don't worry because the registry has been in the provincial government's plans ever since the long gun registry was scrapped in 2012. But Canadians elsewhere now have something they can get agitated about -- the alleged "back door" registry by all the provinces. This cannot be not hysterical fear mongering. Get your panic now.

HA trust the NFA. After their sorry attempt to gain members and dontations. By using a stolen CPC mailing list. I find it hard to even look at them. Move over and let the other groups take over.Penage Guy wrote:If you haven't had any guns-and-government-related panic since the UN marking scheme, which was resolved temporarily (again) a few weeks ago, take advantage of this opportunity. Re: Long Gun Registry
Sucks for Quebec, but it also opens the door for other provinces to do the same thing.
I posted the link to the bill in the powderburners section.

Re: Long Gun Registry
The gun registry is still in the plan. The UN wants one... a government in debt over their head is a pretty good reason for gun controĺ.
Re: Long Gun Registry
I totally agree!!! It's not just the NFA, read any gun forum and supporting groups and its not fear mongering, it could happen!!! And probably will.paddyfritz wrote:Sucks for Quebec, but it also opens the door for other provinces to do the same thing.

Re: Long Gun Registry
It should be, Because there was a court order in 2015 to delete Quebec registry.jwg wrote:I totally agree!!! Re: Long Gun Registry
I may be missing something, but the bill doesn't seem to "bring the long gun registry back" - it seems to simply allow QC to access the federal data when setting up their own registry. The feds enabling the flow of information is not them "bringing back the supposedly scrapped long gun registry", nor is it "getting the provinces to set up their own". There is also no evidence whatsoever that "Every province in this country may have its own long-gun registry in the next couple of years". People may still dislike the feds enabling a provincial registry, and the idea of provincial registries can be debated (and criticized) on their own merit, but that doesn't mean folks get to make up whatever 'facts' happen to fit their narrative.
Re: Long Gun Registry
Well, politicians like to imitate one another.
If Quebec gets its registry... You bet Ontario won't be far behind.
2nd. The bill allows Qc to access the data... but the said data was supposed to have already being destroyed?!

Personally, I am quite disappointed in our politicians. You'd think by now someone would have realized that vulnerable individuals need help. Not paperwork.

Re: Long Gun Registry
Like I said - the issue can be debated. Folks can argue all they want about the fact that the data should be destroyed or that QC is going down the wrong path. Fair enough.
I am just saying that the claims made in the article have no basis in fact. This is not the feds to bringing the registry back. It is not getting provinces to set up their own (QC initiated this, not the feds). And some general claim to politicians copying each other is not basis for the claim that every province will follow suit.

Re: Long Gun Registry
I mean how can you make a bill, on information that was court ordered to be destroyed.

Re: Long Gun Registry
They seem to be rather confused. They have said they destroyed it, kept it, destroyed it, and now they want to pass a law to turn it over to Quebec ?.
