Bug-A-Salt 2.0 Camo

#1 Post by wheeliehd »

Bought a Bug-A-Salt 2.0 in camo today for my trailer. Looks like more fun than a fly swatter. Pump action shotgun with a safety. Anyone have one? Guarantee delivery is Wednesday from Amazon. Looks like fun. First time I seen advertisement on TV I thought it was a joke. Seems to get a lot of good reviews.

Got one! I hope the 2.0 is better. It works, but I think it could be better. It should shoot more salt, who cares if you go thru a lot of salt. Big wasps are just bottered by it. You have to shoot them 3 times up close to kill them which brings me to the second con... that $%?&*I auto safety!!! There's no way to do a quick follow up shot with it! Good thing it's easy enough to get rid of as you just need to pin it, no need to take everything apart.
It works great on flies that are on something solid, if they're on a blade of grass, don't bother shooting at it, it will just move with the salt and fly off.
That being said it's still lots of fun. I have dogs and with it comes poop and with poop you have flies. I counted once and I stopped at 40 in a few minutes. It's built tough. It will last for years.
Have fun :D

Heard v1 was not durable - was prone to break after 50-100 shots and basically was made like a cheap toy from China.
Hope v2 is not so bad
Rifles: Horhe Jager .22 (LW barrel, 4500psi tube), Mp-512, Mp-60
Pistols: 46M, Zoraki HP-01 ultra, 2240, baikal drozd.

With all due respect:
I watched about 15 videos on Utube and all the positive reviews on Amazon so not sure where you are getting your information if you are talking about the true Bug-A-Salt or some kinda clone. I will take DocGadget who owns one over the "I heard Statement". V1 gets 4.5 stars out of 5. V2 gets 4.5 starsout of 5 and V2 firefly Camo gets 5 out of 5 stars. Seem pretty durable to me. CHEERS!

Seen a video where a person had a Princess Auto style cheap airgun and slid a coffee filter metal screen in chamber and used a pen cap as a funnel for salt down the barrel. My only problem at the camp if the city folk see me running around my campsite with a rifle. Even a pistol that makes a big bang that looks like a pistol.

I have a couple spring airsoft pistols for the camp. They are silent for keeping unwanted black birds out of my feeders and targets. one shoots 125 FPS and other is 325FPS :ANAL:

There is a catch: people usually tends to write a review on a brand new item, but if/when it brakes later they don't go and change the review.
Yet didn't own this "gun" myself and my information may be wrong

I bought mine 2 or 3 years ago and it has been thru WAAAAAY more than a 100 shot.
It works best when shot perpendicular to the fly. After writing here I tried it on a big ant this week-end, I shot it at an angle and it just bounced and shrugged it off.
I tried EVERY kind of salt available. Some people said kosher salt was better... I found it not consistent enough, I went back to table salt.
Maybe if the V2 has a bigger hole you can use a bigger kind of salt?

It does kinda feel "cheap" in the hand. It's a salt shooting Nerf gun (not that there's anything wrong with that) more than an airgun. I wish it shot more salt, harder.
And the sight are useless.

V2 has more power. V2 (Lawn and Garden) uses more salt and more power.

Had wife laughing tonight. Told her I was going to pet store tomorrow to buy a dozen feeder flies to let go in the house when my gun arrives. LOL

I used a small finishing nail for pneumatic nail guns, they're squared and have the smallest head, and I sanded it just enough so it would be flush with the plastic part.
So you're saying I should get a V2 huh... hmmmm

I hate it when they come out with a new bigger, better product and you're stuck with the old one.
I wished they offered a buy back program like chrony does. I don't want to spend 45$ to get a second bug-a-salt but if I sent the old one back and paid 30$ for a V2... that would make sense... kinda

Green "Lawn and garden" edition is suppose to be the most powerful and shoot the most salt for out door shooting. Went to a market yesterday and bought six bunch's of radish's, told wife on way home I only bought them so I could shoot them with my Bug-A-Salt before I eat them. :)

Killing flies were a past time in Afghanistan... Try to see how much we could swat at once. It got to the point where we just pull out a lighter, a can of axe or body spray from the contraband room. And torch them.

Bug-A-Salt would be much fun there. Wonder if they make a howitzer version?
