CAF Newbie

#1 Post by Theo98 »

Hello from the Deep South...that is SE La., USA! Wow, is it as Hot there as it is here? Been in the mid 90's with humidity 90%+...too hot for outdoor air gun sports. Guns can take it, I Can't!

Have had a Benjamin Titan XS .177 rifle for a few years. Shoots great, far better than I can. I just got into .177 pistol target shooting this summer with a Benji Trail NP, an Umarex Trevox and recently, a Beeman P17. All can shoot much better than I, but that's not too hard to do.

I come from the GTA and have a thread on my air pistol shooting experiences, mods and findings HERE. Discovered that forum 1st and was asking for advice. CAF looks like a great place for more information and member shared experiences...looking forward to your inputs and suggestions!

Thanks,

Ted

Stan,

Okay...what do you recommend for a new pellet pistol shooter like me, trying to be as accurate a shooter as a good 10m target gun can be?

Well, if you have already practiced enough to out-shoot your P17, which would be doubtful?
Then you have to get up there in price to a HW75, FAS 6004, IZH-46M, Alecto/Zoraki, or a lower priced Comet Indian.

Thanks for the recommendations, Stan.

Briefly looked at the HW, the FAS and the Alecto this summer, but the IZH and the Indian are new to me.

You are right, need to get where the P17 is no longer challenging before spending bigger $$$. That may take a while as I need to get more practice, disciplined and consistent with my P17. It can shoot close to a single hole with a red dot scope, elbows on a stool and RWS Hobby 7.0g WC's. However, single handed, 10m Olympic style with FO sights...well, lets just say I have a Long way to go!
