Hi everyone!
I am still deliberating on exactly which model of air rifle to purchase, though leaning towards a carbine model in AA or FX
I am wondering what scopes you guys like the best with this type of air rifle ... Seems like quite a few different ones available.
I will do a bit of target shooting, but mainly putting this unit together for pest control (rabbits, collared doves, starlings)
I can see from watching videos that there is potential in shooting pests from 10 meters to 100 (though I can hardly imagine a shot that far??)
The other tool that would seem necessary is a range finder (ohhh that trajectory) ... I do like good optics, but don't have 1K for a Leica .. any thoughts would be very appreciated.
Still saving $$$ to build my "perfect" kit!
cheers
Lucky...
PS... I have been watching the For Sale/used pages and it seems the resale value on lightly used air rifles is low? Maybe because so many new models and better innovations out there making a gun months or a couple years old look obsolete

I would look for maximum power of 12 , minimum 3-4. Hawke are good, I have also MTC scopes , but more pricey. For vermin you don`t need a Leica for sure. Some scopes have reticles that you light up. If dim light conditions will be in your world it could be a good feature.
Used scopes can keep money in your pocket, watch the for sale section here.
Good luck.

Thank you for your input... I was just looking at MTC scopes... they look pretty nice! I had not heard of them! Cheers... Luckynewlife wrote:I would look for maximum power of 12 , minimum 3-4. One of the better air rifle scopes with mil dots and better yet, 1/2 mil dot slashes.
I use an Optisan on my Condor .25, 5-15X m3200 on the Talon in .177 and a Leapers mil dot 3-12x on the Brocock .22.
My HW Springers both wear 3-12X 30mm Leapers etched-reticle 1/2 mil dot scopes.
As I am a PB shooter mostly, I have a 1000 model Vortex range finder. It was a tossup between it and the Leupold, but both had a 500 yard limit on hair and the Vortex was $100.00 cheaper.
The Vortex has worked for me on gophers and coyotes to 560yards and on solid objects, was able to range our steel buffalo at 1000 meters (1092 yards) & the steel target squares at 1,130yards.
