First PCP rifle.

#1 Post by Buster95 »

I have never owned (and never fired) a PCP rifle in the past only springers and CO2 rifles. I have a PAL and the Benjamin Discovery look a very good one, lot of after markets parts and modifications. Maybe a stupid question but the Benjamin Discovery and the Benjamin Sheridan Discovery are the same guns? And for caliber choice for plinking and target .117 or .22?

Thank you

I believe the two guns you mentioned are one in the same, though I could be wrong.
I have a Discovery in .22 which I like. I sometimes wish it was .177, but I got a great deal on this one.
The Beeman QB Chief is a nice looking gun. It costs much less than the Disco, has the same 2000psi fill. One good thing with Crosman/Benjamin guns is the parts support. Parts for QB-78 are available, but I am not sure what parts the Chief and the QB-78 share, or if Beeman will offer parts support. I plan on selling off a few under used guns and getting a Chief, so hopefully parts won't be an issue.

The Discovery is a great airgun for the money. Lots of power, fun to shoot but it is loud.If you have close neighbors this may not be a back yard friendly shooter.

My discovery in .22 cal is my first PCP and I am really glad I chose this path. It's a well-made air rifle and is an affordable way to venture into the world of PCP airguns.

Air Arms HFT 500
FX Streamline laminate .22
Benjamin Discovery .22 (tuned)
Weihrauch HW30S .177
Weihrauch HW30 MK1 .177
Weihrauch HW40
Beeman P17
Crosman 22xx carbine (tuned)
Princess Auto Super Springer Deluxe ($34.99)

Anyone with a Discovery got any 20 or 25 yard targets? Was interested in a .22 cal. only.

The Chief is a very good price at canadashootingsupply.ca and he is offering free shipping on all he has in stock. If I hadn't converted my Qb78 to hpa I'd definitely be buying a chief! Great accuracy. Watch some reviews on YouTube. One thing missed by some reviewers is the chief has an adjustable trigger. You just have to take the stock off to get at the adjustment screws. One screw for pull, one for overtravel and one for how heavy the pull is. Much better than the discovery in that area, and half the price!

Canadashootingsupply.ca is also a parts supplier, so if concerned about parts availability for the chief, I'd send them an email to see if they are able to get replacement parts for the chief.

Here is one located in the states. Same style as mine, fold up legs, comes with a rebuild kit. Mine works really well. You could make him an offer. Looks like he'll ship FedEx Ups or DHL, going by the estimated delivery date.
