Full power mod on my 2289

#1 Post by canshooter »

Ive finished! Trigger modded and polished, lighter sear spring, heavier and shimmed hammer spring, lighter valve spring, removed 1/2 internal threads in valve, bored the check valve, cut off 1/2 of the valve stem, plugged bleed hole, ported the valve to 3/16ths, made a vinyl tube transfer port, installed 4x32 scope.

You have to cock her before you pump, but it will now dump 50 pumps and the pellet goes 1/2 inch into 2x4. It still goes off with a resounding whack at 20 pumps for plinking. Its dead accurate at 10yds (max range in basement).

Whats left? and steel breech as soon as Crosman gets their act together. Oh and squirrels and other terrorists of the trees...you better hide!

1/2 into plywood? is that worth those 50 pumps? i think that there is no point to enlarge the valve, my 2289 shoots right under the limit, in .177 at 4 pumps, i think thats better than twice the velocity at 50 pumps.

but than again thats only my opinion, good job on doing all other mods, i bet the trigger feels soooo much better now.

one question, do you think there is a point to adjust the hammer spring if i am not going to mod the valve?

No point in making the hammer spring stronger, if the full 10 pump air charge is already dumped. Maybe weaken it up a bit so the gun is less jumpy and the trigger is a bit softer and yet still dump the whole charge.

i have chrony'd mine at 15 16 17---up to 25 . i find that the differance between 20 and 25 is only a few f/s . mine will get close to 700f/s off 20 pumps . i can't see the extra 25 doing much . the small piston stroke will only alow for so much pressure .
you my want to try 25 then try 50 .there shouldn't be much difference
