Size of Target Relative To Distance....

#1 Post by MyCrosman »

During outdoor target practise I like to shoot small soup cans...(4 inches tall ) at 200 feet....
Indoors I have 38 feet......what size target would I require (at 38 feet ) to simulate a 4 inch target at 200 feet...?
I googled it but can't get a straight answer!!!!!! :(

Simple trigonometry gives us 0.76 inches.

I believe those target sizes are the MINIMUM used in FT, are they not?.... They 0.76" size quoted for the equivalent at 38 feet to a 4" target at 200 feet is correct, except that since the pellet is still the same size, it would be slightly easier to "nick" the 0.76" target at 38 feet.... but 3/4" tall would be close enough....

Yes, Those are minimum sizes for those distances. The second set of numbers are yards, not feet.

The little chocolate balls from the dollar store on golf tees should do the trick.
Also the color coding stickers at the dollar store are 3/4 inch.
