Crosman Powerlet dirty?

Sorry if this question has already been asked but is it true that Crosman Powerlet 12-gram CO2 cartridges are dirty inside and they can damage the gun?

its possible they can damage the valve stem seal...even a tiny peace of metal filing that you can barely see with the naked eye will lodge itself in the stem seal and cause a small leak.
