Well a 17-L is a model of a Glock Pistol. Which I do got my eyes on one.

These are the Trigger Safety Parts that need to be removed to make the trigger safety into a manual instead of auto.
A must if you are trying to fill piston cylinder with air through the breech. It is held in by a metal pin located in front of the trigger on the body.

Had some troubles getting this chrony even to turn on last nite. Let alone trying to get any pellets through it. Hope it wasn't damaged while shipping.
The LED screen will not display in the ready mode. Going to take it outside and see if different light source helps. If not I'll guess I'll get on the phone with
tech support.

My brand new Caldwell Ballistic Precision is back in the Postmen hands....
I could not get it to turn on properly. Tried different types of lights, took it outside.
Hooked up my cel to it and it quickly cycled up to 682 errors...but never did it start at the "ready screen"
Called tech support, sent pictures of the LED display...said is does have a problem and
to just send it back for credit if I don't want them to send a replacement.
Must have got a lemon...now I'm a bit skeptical to buy another Caldwell.
Any suggestion before I attempted another buy?

Man that would be wishful thinking!!!

I'm using your number from the extended barrel . (7.9 gr - 421 fps = 3.11 fpe That's with a 10" barrel.)

So I'm hoping for somewhere around 323fps. (13.43gr - 323fps = 3.11 fpe)
Variables will be a bit of porting, pulling air in from the breech and a larger ID barrel (.22) might help??
Might be too much volume in the barrel and the pellet could start to slow down...
I'm hoping my 25cm (9.84") barrel is the sweet spot for barrel length.
But I need a Chrony to proof. Will order new one tomorrow.

Postmen dropped off my F1 Chrony today! Happy Camper once again.
Put a fresh battery in her and took er out side before the sun went down.
First I shot my P17 without any errors and came out with an average around 404fps shooting some very old Crosman Copperhead pointed 7.9gr that put it around 2.86 FPE
Light was fading quickly but I did manage to squeeze off a few with my P22 before I got a couple of Err2's.
I only had some Premier Hollow points 14.3gr to test which shot around 296fps. They came out @ 2.79 FPE which seem a bit low but not bad.
The .22 Hollow points are a tight fit when loading so I'll look and try some different pellets later.

P17-.177 7.9 @ 404fps = 2.86fpe
P22-.22 13.3 @ 296fps = 2.79fpe

Was that your stock P17? or Longer barrel one?

Easy fix for the lighting on your Chrony is glue a washer to the sun shade. To stick a LED pod to.

Plan on sticking lights on it tomorrow. I have a couple of LED camping lights that have magnets on them. They might work out nicely.
Would like to also modify one of my RC models lithium-polymer batteries to run them....
The P17 has the stock barrel and has only just been cleaned and lubed. Maybe a light polishing to make it shine a bit.
Before any more modding on my P22 I might just swap out some parts between the two.
See if any helps or not.

Just get a 9V DC to AC adapter and run powder all the time.

No I haven't done any more with it. It's still lots of fun and shoot fine. Maybe not as fast as the .177 but still hits hard.
When Meg (daughter) and I are just plinking I only get it half the time cuz she wants to shoot it too...LOL

Well I fitted a new slide that I didn't crack the faux comp... I added a pistol scope and slide extender..

I love it! Both the 22 and the longer barrel 177.
I was thinking; maybe try JSB instead since they have much thinner skirts and thus less friction. You're surfing the low end of power at 3ftlbs so I'd assume a brick of a pellet (Crosman) is slowing it down. And/or what about a prefired pell? Basically already sized and long as you get the rifling to match when inserted it should net more fps. Fyi I also lightly sanded my 177 P17 bore to smooth it and reduce friction, then I dry lubed it to boot, so maybe? I believe I used 1000 or finer paper to sand since the bore was already too big so i only wanted to barely smooth it.
My P17, like any pneumatic, makes more power with heavier pellets, up to a point. 13.43gr made the most power, 16 lost some. So I'm wondering where that point will be in 22? The 18gr JSB would be slow as hell but I wonder if they'd be the more powerful? Only one way to find out, and... if you don't have them I'd rekon some folks might send you a few for the crony?

Did you shim the piston? They generally fall short and thus don't put all the air into the chamber. I have some pix of mine if you want.
