Looking for help with my Slavia 630 model 77...

#1 Post by shortimer »

I just registered, but I was hoping to get some help with my pellet gun.
It's a Slavia 630 model 77. I've owned it for about 4 years, but recently its been very gutless. when I first got it it could shoot through both sides of a coffee can no problem, but now it barely dents it. I was shooting pidgeons in the barn, and direct hits from less than 20 feet would barely ruffle their feathers. I didn't shoot it for about 6 months previous, but i kept it stored inside. Also when i broke the barrell, it felt fairly stiff, so I sprayed WD40 on the linkage arm and it cocked smoothly after that. Would that have a negative effect on my power? Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

The leather piston cup has very likely dryed out. Put some Gun oil (not WD 40) in the cylinder hole and stand it in the corner for a day or two.

the seal on the SLavia 630 is synthetic. Sounds like it's shot...time for a rebuild.

i own 2 of these . you should take it apart and see whats going on. also if you can find something about 1/4'' thick put it behind the spring when you put it back together. the 2 i have are about 20 years old and have seen rough times but still get up to 600f/s . the piston has a flare cap made of a plastic . the edges are thin and need to be totaly clean . . the oil will help a bit but it should be takin apart . ( it is easy to do)

Could somebody help me with disassembly of the gun? I have the barrell & Stock removed, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the guts out. I found an exploded diagram and it looks like the checkered metal piece in front of the safety comes out, but I don't know how. Any Ideas?

This wonderful forum has a "Search" feature. I typed in the word "Slavia" and found this posting. You will likely find the answer to your disassembly question at this posting.

Hi Murray,

Maybe you can state what size dovetail is on the CZ rifles.
What is your recommended mount?

Thanks,

I got it apart and cleaned it. There was some black stuff built up in the piston and the seal had 2 small nicks it it. I oiled it and put it back together, but little if any noticable improvement. Could those nicks in the seal have a big impact on performance? :?:

Shortimer, if your seal is nicked just replace it, then you can stroke that off the list of problems, next count your spring coils you should have 33 coils in non fac version. If you want you can space the spring by putting a spacer of some 3/8 washers about .400 to .500" and that should give you some juice. If the gun will not cock, just remove some of the spacing and try again. When you have the gun apart check for any marks in the compression tube, I had one with a gouge in it which had to be buffed out before I could get much velocity.LOL and hope it goes well this time.
