How do you think about the RWS R10 Match (non-plus) pellet?

#1 Post by YepYep »

I took the free shipping chance from replica-airguns and bought one of each of the 7g and 8.2g pellets.

The package and the pellets just looks sooooo good! Black and golden color tin, shiny clean pellets inside...

Fits well on my P17, but looks tight on my HW40. After several shots on each pellet tin and each of the gun, I got one 8.2g pellet stuck on the HW40 barrel opening (breech side), air leaked from the valve and the pellet not moving at all... Just like last time I met the same with the Crosman super pointed which I measured the other day and found the head size is reaching 4.6mm...

Then I checked the web and found some interesting info...

R10 Match pellets are all the defect pellets that picked out from the Plus line...

8.2g pellet head size should be 4.49mm and 7g pellet head size 4.50mm.... (Don't know I have one 8.2g stuck in my HW40 barrel)

From several sources ( websites have this pellet for sell ), all reviews are 5 of 5....

Anyone of you used this before? How's your experience?!

my pellet of choice at the moment for my .177 tx200 shooting 10m. Benched I can single hole. When I say single hole I mean a hole under .20 in total diameter for 5 shots. A little more consistent than the RWS meisterkugeln which I find are an excellent pellet as well. Good for my offhand shooting.
I have some airguns.

I've had success with this pellet over the RWS Meisters. The R10, 7 gr. shoots extremely well on my M4-177 Crosman pumper. I also use them on various CO2 pistols. Right now for the RWS brand, the Superdomes and R10 are my go to pellets.

Since they came with it, I used over 2 tins so far in the hw40 with no issuesr, similar tightness as H&N match, but way tighter then say SHP or rounded pellets. Not sure about the non-plus thing, mine are Model 2315018 and never had one stuck in the barrel. My 2 teens daughter also shot about 1 tin with it and beside the occasional losing the pellet beside the barrel, havent had complaints.

The 500 tin format is the R10 Match, the individual packed (100 per set ?!) format is the R10 Match Plus which is more expensive. I didn't use the Plus either.
Will take some to measure the head size later while I have time...

Two years ago I bought several tins of the R10 Match 7.0 grain pellets when I saw them in the Bargain Cave at Cabela's Edmonton store. They are accurate in my Daisy 717 and Walter LP3. I have no complaints.

The R10's I bought at Pr.Auto were quite accurate in my FWB Tyrolean 150 - 1/10" at 20 yards.
I used that rifle with a 4X scope on the running sheep target/game and was unbeaten 2 nights
in a row shooting against guys with running game scopes, with leading posts. Good pellets in
that rifle - seems to me, the pellets were right around 8gr. Black and Gold tin.
Best Wishes

Weighted my samples today.

7g pellets weighted mainly around 0.451 grams and 8.2g samples around 0.533 gram. ( Different 10 pellets as a pack and weight the total then divided by 10 to calculate the single sample weight )

Measured the sizes.

It's hard to do good measurements on the wadcutters but the 8.2g pellets did have a tiny smaller head size than the 7g pellets. And the head size of the 7g pellets are about 4.49mm to 4.50mm.

AND I found the skirt sizes are all around 4.6mm or more ! And the 8.2g pellets have a thicker skirts for the added weight... So it maybe the reason I had one stuck in my HW40 barrel...

In general these pellets are very good ones and have been doing very well with my P17. And I have my JSBs for the HW40, so I don't have any problem with it too ~
