Finally picked up a Red Dot for the 2004

#1 Post by Mulby »

I picked it up at Illingworth's last week, a Hawke RD30. What a huge difference in accuracy. I didn't think the improvement would be so substantial, but it took a reasonably accurate pistol and turned it into a tack driver. It really helped me find the favored pellet in my pistol, and guess what, the JSB Exacts are the best performer in my 2004. It feels like I got a new pistol, but I've had it for almost a year now and just found the potential accuracy of it. I've had no problems(knock on wood here)other than having to glue some of the pins in place since they would ride out after a few shots. Lots of fun. I'd like to get another red dot and a steel breech kit for my 1377 and improve it aswell.

Also got a couple new rifles, HW90 in .177 and Diana 48 in .22. The 90 is the Weihrauch that uses the Thoeben gas strut, originally it was doing just over 19fpe with 8.44gr exacts but I let air pressure out until it came down to just over 14fpe. Much smoother and less bang, also easier to cock and generally more enjoyable to shoot at the lower power level. Very accurate and versatile rifle. The Diana 48 is simply an amazing rifle, powerfull at just over 22fpe with 16gr JSB's, and very accurate and consistent. Tin cans out to 80yds are not safe if the 48 is around.

I'm gonna spend some time this winter building spinner targets and maybe even some nock down targets, or buy them, which ever is easier LOL. Good shooting to ya's,

as I"ve said in the past - plastic golfballs are a good challenge at 30 yards with a M2004 reddotted.

Easier and more accurate than my 2289 reddotted & shoulder stock...

Enjoy! & welcome to the M2004 reddot club!

Thanks Plink,
I've read your posts about plastic golf ball targets, and it sounds like alot of fun. Today I was shooting a penny hanging in my trap, it took quite a few shots, but it eventually cracked and broke into pieces from being shot in the same spot from 9m (arms rested)repeatedly. In my basement range I shoot at "pea" sized targets drawn on paper. I sit in a chair with my feet up on a stool and rest my elbows on my knees, gives a very stabel shooting position. Have fun,

What is fpe?

Hey, don't hate. It releases negative energy, which is bad for everyone.

The muzzle velocity of my 2004 w/8.44gr JSB Exacts is 385-390fps
The muzzle energy in foot pounds with these pellets is about 2.8fpe
