#1 Post by killercrow »

well, i finished up adapting my homebuilt rifle to bulk via remote line... and of course all i got is an airsource bottle, see. well, the dummy co2 leaks... probably a result from my crappy tap job  what can ya do... well, i guess its back to trying to braze up a steel one!!
my gun is sitting outside right now leaking... i shot it a little, i do like the consistant power though! very sweet  even got to kill a couple squirrels... stupid things  they get into EVERYTHING!!!! now theres only...... i donno, 5 or 6 left to go... my yard is over-run...

did you use teflon tape thread sealer?, it might cure your leaking problem.

Locktite will also work well to stop leaks. If you ever have to take it apart use a little heat.

I'm not sure what your setup is like, but a thread alone will not seal anything. You need o-rings, but teflon tape will probably do the trick too.

Good luck!

yeah... well i used teflon tape, but once i got the fittings together i noticed a burr kinda prevented the tape from doing its job, so i just tightened it up some more  i guess i got a little antsy. and yeah, i though about loctite also once, i got it together... live and learn!!
hey, these refillable bottles for paintball guns, can you turn them off? hows that work anyhow? just gotta disconnect them from the line or what?
i noticed a little round thing that looks like a valve... is it a valve? or is it a burst disk, and what IS a burst disc?

How about a combination, use your threaded connection for the strength and solder/braze that joint to get the sealing. Systems are more secure when functions are seperate and redundant.
Should solve your leak.

walter. wouldnt be able to do much since it was aluminum with brass fittings. good thought though! i actually fixed up a new one. i just took an empty co2 drilled and tapped it for the brass fitting, and get this... i soldered it once i got it together!! who woulda thought you can solder steel?!?!?! im hoping it'll hold though. it should though, shouldnt it? seems to be strong like bull, havent torqued on it though, but i think i'll avoid doing that. i used 60/40 rosin core solder...
hey sniper, thanx for the pics... its all clear now :D im thinkin thats next on my list. hey at walfart you can get a 9 oz brass eagle bottle... i think its like 32$ or something for just the plain jane one, but they got a textured flamed one for 29$... thats kinda goofy hey! it looks kinda cheesy... but its alright.
and as for brazing... im having quite the time figuring it out... i think i must have the wrong torch head still... either that or the canadian tire brazing gas is just for real thin stuff... doesnt get hot enough, just to braze a nut onto an empty co2... oh well!
