co2 bottle problem... solved! with pics!!

#1 Post by killercrow »

so i bought a co2 bottle today. its the 9 oz. brass eagle aluminum tank. took it and got it filled. now, much later today, i hook it all up to my gun... turn it on, and... NOTHING! now, would it be possible that the guy filling it screwed the burst disc? or do i possibly have a defective tank? any way to tell if its the burst disc? talk about a piss off man  oh well, back to town tomorrow i guess!

Killercrow,

Did you try to shake the bottle and check if there is any co2 in it, sometime the pin inside the adaptor that pushes the valve on the bottle plug the outlet of the bottle if you screw-in the bottle too tight, try back out about 1/2 turn or completely disconnected and screw it back in but not too tight. There was report while back ago about brass eagle bottle had some defective valve, this is why I only buy PURE-ENERGY. If the guy screwed the burst disc, he won't be able to fill it. If the burst disc blows, the visible safety valve pop out and has to be replaced and it would release the whole contents of the bottle into the air.

The best is to get the bottle with manual on/off shut off valve.

as far as i can tell, theres nothing in the bottle... i can push the pin in the valve with my finger. dont notice anything when i shake it. i'll pull the burst disc out and take a peek...
thanx man!

If you can push that pin in with your finger, then the bottle is completely empty.

Did it feel any heavier after the guy "filled" it?

HA HA!!! screw walmart! im sick of their broken goods... took that bottle back for a refund, and went lookin for a new bottle, checked pawn shops and stuff, til i went to the guy that filled my bottle, he had some c02 bottles. first time i was there i saw them and didnt even ask about them, since i figured hed want an arm and a leg for them, since they were 20 oz and canadian tire wants like 60$ for a 12 oz. anyhow, turns out they were rebuilt pure energy 20 oz tanks, for $41 filled! so i was like  .... didnt hesitate to buy one :P he said if i had a problem with it just bring it in. so i guess i got a pretty decent deal.
now let's see if it works....

Um, I would not use the soldered 12g if I were you. The heat from the torch has no doubt annealed the heat treated alloy (ie. you've just made a very unpredictable grenade).

You can buy 12g dummy carts from a number of sources (https://palmer-pursuit.com/ecom/product ... 3225f04b52 if that doesn't work, they have it in their new online catalog under airtanks and fittings http://palmer-pursuit.com/index.html, Cooper-T has a cheaper one with the ASA included http://www.cooper-t.com/sheridan.html, An I know I have seem some one E-bay from Pegleg paintball (AKA, Sugarstump)).

I've been paintballing since early 99 and I've learned quite a bit about modding and safe use of compressed gasses. Your 12g adapter has been deemed unsafe on every forum I frequent.

hey ustilago, i appreciate your concern. i did try it out, and no problems thus far... ive seen what a co2 looks like when it pops, no shrapnel. just splits open, now, encase it, and put like 40 odd thousand psi in it, now you have a grenade. LOTS of experimentation with empty co2's. i know i should use a proper adapter... i guess i live on the wild side... jk

sniper, i'll get pics shortly. right now i cant get my stock on the gun... unexpected obstacle with the new adapter... :? but i'll just do it pistol style for now

here she is.
note, the little brass pin beside the fitting is just there to keep the co2 from turning.
the plastic frame is temporary... soon to be replaced with brass
lmk what you guys think!
