I did some checking on our city website today to see about bylaws concerning airguns. The bylaw stated that this was NOT legal in any designated "closed to shooting" zones within the municipality and to check shedule 'A' for a boundary map, unfortunately shedule'A' was not present on the web site. Called the contact number for the bylaw office and got an automated voice system that asked me to leave my name, address and phone number and which bylaw I was inquiring about and somone would call back.... NOT Left my cel number only.
Next step, called the local police detatchment to see if they could help. The nice receptionist put me on hold to go ask who I should talk to.
Finally talked to a very helpful staff seargent who put me on hold to go and se if he could find any information..... came back on the line and said I should call the bylaw office for specific information on shooting boundaries
Called the bylaw office again and got the same message.....
Later this afternoon I did get a call back on my cel phone and the nice lady at the bylaw office said I should call the police department and ask them Told her that police had refered me back to her and she put me on hold to go and find some information.... came back on the line and asked me for my name and address. Okay, I caved and gave it to her and she informed me that I am indeed outside the no shooting boundary and could legaly shoot there She is also making a copy of the boundary map that I can pick up at city hall next time I'm in the area.
SO, I'm legal and happy and the wheels of government keep rollin' on!
Hey it never hurts to ask.... right?

Re: Polices do not know !
Well, I should be a bit more specific..... I live in a very rural part of Abbotsford right on the Chilliwack district border. The police didn't know how far out into the boonys the boundary extended. I bring a bit of city habits with me out here to the country as far as asking about rules and such, most people out here just do whatever the hell they like. I've lived here 2 years now and I think I've seen a police cruiser out here..... um, never that I can think of.papaburger wrote:I am surprise the police do not know about the boundry.
