Checked out the Quest at LeBaron's
Checked out the Quest at LeBaron's
Nice looking rifle. I noticed a gap between the breech block and the receiver fork (looking down from the top). Is this typical?
Funny thing .....
The gap was only on the right side of the breech block.

The only thing I could say on that is if you were to by one check a couple of examples and see if they are all the same. These are a 'lower end' airgun but some have said they are great right out of the box while others feel(myself included) that with a little tweaking they are much better. I guess it all depends on your priorities, spend more money initially on a better gun and just shoot or buy a cheaper gun if you enjoy tearing them down and tuning to your liking.... me, Ilike to tinker.
I scrapped the plastic shims in mine and machined a couple of stainless steel washers to close tolerances to replace them and now mine has zero barrel slop.

I sure like mine and glad they are available to us Canucks.
Did you do anything to improve the pivot bolt area?

Re: Funny thing .....
Yep, I really am pleased with it. I machined a couple of stainless steel washers down to near zero tolerance between the receiver fork and the breech block, molly greased all contact areas then reassembled to check the fit, marked the pivot bolt head position when I had the tension just right and finally reassembled using Loctite 262. Now it still cocks nice and smooth but there is no side play on the barrel. Sighted in the scope and can now shoot dime size 5 shot groups at 10M wich is pretty good for me cuz I'm a lousy shotVoltar1 wrote: So you like your Quest eh Geoff?
